I contacted a couple of weeks ago that I wanted two of these, but didn't see my name on the list. Please add me to the group buy if possible

I$, I messaged you on march 25th stating that I wanted to buy a second PCB from you. Therefore I am surprised to not find my name in this list. I have a prototype PCB from you (thanks again) and am waiting for a controller to finally start using it.
But I would've liked to participate in the run of "final" PCBs also. If it's not possible, that's okay too. In that case I will build only one, instead of two FSSKs.

I think I might want to buy a pcb but I need to ask first
are this fssk feels like a genuine model F?

idollar says it does. I'm not sure if anyone else has completed theirs, though, so that's the only report we have so far.

It's pretty close, I have completed mine, but haven't got around to program it yet, but it's snappy and nice!
It doesn't feel as sturdy and solid as my AT, but that's expected. Definitely better than an M though!

Or is there an better (or cheaper) way to get the xwhatsit?

Has anyone thought of making a metal barrel plate for this project? That would really wrap it up and make it 100% model F goodness.
Also what does AOI mean?

It might be more model F then, but it would be less SSK. From strictly philosophical reasons I find the current setup ideal

regarding the case (I have no SSK, so I need to build one myself):
http://steampunkworkshop.com/keyboard-shtml/
Could something like that work?
how is the plate attached to the construction?

@Phenix.. The following thread would have several pictures showing the base plate and barrel frame. The PCB would be sandwiched between the two with a buckling spring and flipper for each barrel in the frame. workshop-f7/ibm-model-m-screw-nut-and-b ... t9169.html
To be honest, the cheapest and most effective starting point for you (assuming you are wanting a custom case for this project) would probably be to find a broken 101-key model M, and cut it down to an 84-key (removing the right side with the 10-key). Finding a broken SSK (84-key) as a starting point would be tough.
You would need to perform a "bolt/screw mod" like the attached thread to add the new PCB. You will also need to find model F springs and flippers (which is the point of this exercise)
Edit... I misread your question. The plate and frame assembly just "floats" in the case resting inside clips at the front (4-5 of them), then "loops" over two pegs at the top. The top half of the case just sandwiches the floating plate/frame assembly onto the two top pegs

heres my other thread
https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=81 ... msg2133290
I ordered 229 flippers recently. Screw-mod should not be an big problem.
I am mostly having issues with getting the case
Just ordered another Model M, will check whats going to be easier (cutting down or building that case)
