I could volunteer as a EU-proxy if you'd be up for shipping all caps destined for the EU to me, ohaimark. Shipping from me within the EU is about 6 euro plus packing material. (So probably cheaper if someone from Germany would do it.) I guess approximately $50 for some sets across the atlantic? So less than $20 for all shipping. A bit on the expensive side, but still cheaper than direct shipping, I guess.

I bought a keyboard from ohaimark's recent sellout and everything was handled very well, so I trust he can do this as well . The only question is whether ohaimark should be paid directly by the mini-GB participants or if I pay for the entire lot, since they will at one point all be in my possession. I'm fine with both approaches.

(NB: much like ohaimark I've never dealt with a GB before, but considering this is small enough (and within the EU), I think it should be manageable.)

Well, the Acer 6011 on eBay just ended with the non-stratospheric price of $135.00, won by someone who doesn't seem to be a troll bidder. I'm quite surprised actually that the trolls did not try harder, but perhaps the blue alps hype really is dying?

Entirely possible, since I just bought some blue alps switches Pricing was fair though, and I got a small gift with it as well, so I can't complain. *nod to a seller*

(now a hard decision to make is, whether I really want to frankenify my AEK, or I get a new board)

Well, do you like the AEK as a platform? Do you like it more than you do other Alps keyboards? How hard would it be to find a new Alps keyboard where the shipping won't kill it?

Always think practically, it makes these decisions much easier.

Thats my listing I was going to cancel the listing, but since i came across a nice amount of blue alps im going to be nice and not cancel the sale since ill be moving soon and just want to clear stuff out.

Theres a good amount of blue alps boards on ebay it seems now days, probably from everyone checking for them because of the recent high prices so they appear less rare then before. Once those blue alps boards that have been sitting on ebay for a while are gone though i bet the prices will go back up.

I was watching the bids at the last 5 minutes, and my opinion is that the 0feedback bidder could have been the winner second account trying to make sure he doesnt over pay with his main account or something.. I have no idea really though.

In the past there was a good amount of high feedback winners though, not too long ago my Acer KB101A sold for $400.

That's true, the market for blue alps certainly seems volatile right now. The last couple of auctioned-off DC-2014s sold for no more than ~$130 but as ohaimark said, that may be due to it being a relatively common donor board.

@CC I just got it so I don't know. Along with it I have just one other Alps board. And some nice options have presented itself, but this is the part where I have to go beg a seller to ship to me. [rant]I always wondered why some ebay.de listings are limited to Germany, and don't include at least Austria and/or Switzerland. In any case, shipping from Germany to most of EU is not that more expensive than shipping within Germany.[/rant]

@emdude I already got one bring-your-own-PCB project at my desk right now, and another one mostly finished a week or two ago. I'm looking to take a break after that, and Alps64 would be mentally exhausting, with all that plate options, sourcing keycaps, etc

Quick question for UK members. Is there any leeway when sending international packages via Royal Mail regarding weight? Keyboards often weigh somewhere near the 2kg mark, and with packaging go over. International prices for Royal Mail of up to 2kg and Parcelforce above 2kg are drastically different, so a 2.2kg package will ship to EU for £40 for cheapest option, compared to £14 for a 2kg package.

I wouldn't count on leeway. The people at my post office are fucking fascist pieces of non-human excrement. Once you go over 2 kg, the price goes through the roof because of ParcelForce. MyHermes is much cheaper, but I discovered recently they're quite rough on parcels, so if you do decide to use them, pack the fuck out of them.

I hate it when you stumble upon these random bureaucratic obstacles. I realise they can't ship everything as a postcard, but give me a break and use some common sense. And shipping to Germany, and then from Germany to Croatia, using different services, in the end ends up cheaper than shipping straight to Croatia. Simply makes no sense.

Thanks for the advice on myHermes. I actually can ship to someone in Germany which would be cheap, and they drive down here relatively often, but on the other hand, I can't abuse their good will.

Just a quick linguistic note -- it's interesting to see someone from Europe, specifically Germany, use "jaja" as a laugh. South American/Latin countries use that same construct, whereas English speakers tend to use "haha."
