Because of harassment by illegitimate claims. and eventual locking out of paypal account operations.cookie wrote: ↑Why doesn't he take care of this in the selling thread himself?
Remember at the point when all the claims were leveled against him, the majority of the packages didn't even arrive..
So everyone was saying that Berserk is leaving with no solution.. which was untrue because at that point, nothing could've been done, because no one knew where the stuff was.

I still don't understand why this post withot context, without detailed explanation and without relevance to the forum has to be here.
This makes no sense and I am out at this point... good luck with whatever you are trying.

Perhaps it makes it easier to juggle your various identites. Wouldn't surprise me if this was a three puppet stage act.

As a tangential participant in this event (Gutz and I have had a sporadic email "relationship" outside the forum discussing non-keyboard concepts (yes, there are components in life besides keyboards!) for a few years, and after he asked me several times about buying some of his things), I told him what sorts of pieces that I might be interested in and sent him a little over the "slow-boat" shipping fee for a 10kg box (via Moneygram, per his request). He would fill it with "leftovers" when the other orders were complete and send it on. Thus, I did not actually "order" anything but I am hoping for at least enough parts and keycaps to build a couple of Cherry boards. Ideally that might be a full-size and a TKL, and the 2 switches I would like best would be jailhouse green or ergo clear, but I have no idea what I will eventually get.
My speculation is that his enraged and frustrated wife saw a huge pile of "junk" cluttering the house, and a bunch of boxes and tape, and took it upon herself to shovel it all in and seal it up. I feel pretty sure that the "mistakes" were not made by Berserk's own hands and eyes.
The spreadsheet (created by Skysophrenic and not Rootwyrm, I am pretty sure) is going to be our only road map to sorting out the mis-directions and eventually getting at least some of the gear to its proper homes.

I think I stumbled on some of this drama a few days ago actually and IIRC he was trying to send all this junk at the same time he was moving house too? I don't know (or care for) the details but it doesn't seem like a good idea to be trying to send two cubic meters worth of stuff all around the world while simultaneously moving house.

Berserk was first at fault, but then he was prevented from doing what was possible to fix the problem

Look at this further douchebag move as quoted here.
--Rootwyrm-- continues to threaten Geekhack moderation against leaving the TRUTH of which I posted intact.
There is absolutely no evidence he's presented to dispute the arguments I've put forth..
It is of certainty that Berserkfan is NOT a scammer.. That --Rootwyrm-- meddled wrongfully and is a root cause of the worst case scenario which is transpiring as we speak.
--Rootwyrm-- : "Then, as I said: take it up with the moderation team who has decided they will permit and essentially endorse the behavior leading us to this decision, by leaving the abusive and deliberately misleading posts up and declining to take action against the people who posted them.
The moderation team is fully aware that we are more than prepared to walk away due to their decisions, and they are fully aware of the problems they have created. All responsibility lays with them at this point."

I do not have money to refund everyone fully. Nor do I have the desire to.

Absolutely correct..webwit wrote: ↑I do not have money to refund everyone fully. Nor do I have the desire to.
One he could not possibly refund every person in this case, because there's a limited budget..
He doesn't want to refund everyone because if he did, it would still mean the inventory is not sorted.. because many people will not come forward and either ship things back or towards the correct destination.
He was going to do as much as possible given the $2000 in additional funding, ontop of the organization cost/ shippings for the swapping.

People only started to get angry after Berserkfan responded to the issues with his "I don't give a damn, consider yourself lucky if you received stuff even if it's not what you ordered" statement.
So yeah, he's a victim. Of his own attitude.
And stop picking at this one person. As if one buyer could be responsible for turning such a huge sale into a clusterfuck single-handedly.

You're right, it is also agreed upon that Berserk did not issue the proper statements after the fact..Matt_ wrote: ↑People only started to get angry after Berserkfan responded to the issues with his "I don't give a damn, consider yourself lucky if you received stuff even if it's not what you ordered" statement.

But he was in communication with people throughout the ordeal for both advice and possibly proxy help to get the packages where they needed to go, ontop of the necessary refunds..
Rootwyrm Did single handedly screw up much of the Friendly potentials to solve this problem.. He filed straight away locking up Berserkfan's paypal options.. This was prior to most of the packages arriving..
At a time when nothing could realistically be done.

Again, one guy filing a complaint won't single-handedly destroy everything as yous seem to want to have us believe. The heart of the problem lies in the fact that Berserkfan royally fucked up and has no idea what was sent to whom (I'm not even talking about double selling items, which is scam, like it or not). That is much more problematic than one guy (or a few guys) filing a complaint.
And repeatedly picking at one of the guys working to clear things up (with the spreadsheet) will only make things worse, so please stop doing that. If Berserkfan has some beef with rootwyrm, surely he can sort it himself, he doesn't need an obsessive white knight to do that for him.

It was disturbing to read this, Berserk is a strait up guy... What I really love is that in this case users organized a lynch mob rapidly, but in some other cases everyone accepted that, well... shit happens and when I say this I remember getting arsed by Ivanivanovici ...
Everybody forgot about 3 GB's that went tits up, a pile of money is gone ...

Not only did --Rootwyrm-- file.. he urged EVERYONE else to file.... and that thread was massively edited to remove many posts which results in some discontinuity in the order of information presented..
The order of events, causes, and subsequent fall out is as I have outlined in the OP.
It is not in dispute that Berserkfan made mistakes.. But his intentions were good, it was not a scam ever, and his intentions to Rectify the situation remained Up until the point it became impossible to do so after paypal account options were removed..

Exactly correct DnaielT... Berserk has always been UPstanding.. He personally took numerous losses from buys on Geekhack.. But regardless he stood firm, and continued to be a responsible and active trade member.. Even post problem, Berserk was willing to put even more of his own money into the fray for a fix..
And the lynch mob issue spear headed by you know who, was indeed the worst thing that could have happened to this debacle..

It's amazing to see how after a few GBs where people were screwed with no recourse, people who file a claim (which you can retract if a solution is found between seller and buyer, btw) while the window is still open to protect themselves are considered as a lynch mob.
Berserkfan may be a great guy, but you cannot fault people for wanting to cover their asses when the seller clearly states that he does not give a damn.
