On the other hand, you pay when riding a bus or using your phone,
and seemingly free services like Facebook or Twitter use your data as a payment.
So paying for eBay is nothing I would rant about.
Of course eBay charges rather high fees, taking advantage of their monopole situation,
but the monopole situation also means sellers have much better chances of selling their stuff
than if there were several similar sites competing on a comparable level.
