TBF its really the sellers who are ripped off, fees can often reach around 20% of the hammer price.

20%? I wonder which special features you have to book to be charged so much.

On the other hand, you pay when riding a bus or using your phone,
and seemingly free services like Facebook or Twitter use your data as a payment.
So paying for eBay is nothing I would rant about.

Of course eBay charges rather high fees, taking advantage of their monopole situation,
but the monopole situation also means sellers have much better chances of selling their stuff
than if there were several similar sites competing on a comparable level.

It was something around 20% when you took into account paypal fees and not starting a auction at 0.99. But, as I say it is the seller that gets ripped off not the buyer. We can all choose not to buy.

It's at least 13% no matter what.

Ebay takes at least 10% and paypal takes 3%

I had the number of 18% in the back of my mind, this was way back when, 13% sounds more like it thinking back. Haven't sold on ebay for a long time. Anyway, off topic.... srry.

Huh - that beamspring was made in Armonk too, not in Canada at the old Toronto plant...maybe the later ones were made in NY, or just certain models.

On the ebay note, eBay takes 10% straight away, including the cost of postage jacking postage prices up, PayPal charge at least 3%, possibly more if the payment is from a different currency, plus a business seller has to pay at a minimum £25 a month for a basic shop on eBay, giving only buy it now listings, and have to pay for each auction listing.

It's only natural that sellers will jack prices up to cover fees, often with a best offer for what they think would be acceptable.

Same as a 60% (what I thought was a homebrew / handwired board) I posted a couple of days ago, thought it was a cutdown.

By the looks of it is's either a Stackpole or Hi-Tek Linear Switch. It would need wiring & a controler I guess.

That's a Hi-TEK waffle board those were quite common back in the day. I've never seen one with the original box though.

I bought this one. I might post photos of the damage assessment, I'm sure its condition rivals that of the keyboards from the Rustmaster!

After my initial excitement wore off, I had to wonder.. With the difference in price and the emphasis on the "AS IS ~ AS FOUND FOR PARTS OR REPAIR ONLY", I suspect I'll be in for a big surprise (well, more than what is immediately obvious).

I'll probably look into getting the case and maybe the plate powder coated..

Slom, thanks for posting! Grabbed one of the Dietz boards. I will report on the switches as soon as I get it. Probably Cherry I'd guess.
