I’m afraid this is not much help for someone who does not already know

4chan is a forum where anyone is anonymous (it's mostly known because of that), the subjects of the conversation are called "threads" and the /mkg/ is a thread on 4chan about mechanical keyboards :)

Once you get it post detailed pictures of the keycaps, please. :-)
Here are some pictures, as asked for (sorry about the bad lighting but it was now or never...).

Got it today and turns out it wasn't NIB, as suspected, but in very pristine condition. There is very little brownish grime on some keys - as if someone had typed with dirty fingers, which will easily come off. Other than that it's in pristine condition, there is also virtually no dust / skin particles in it - see photos with removed keycap.

The Russian legends are a nice touch...

Price check on Tai-Hao 5539 w/ Aruz switches and relatively thick doubleshots (US QWERTY in Focus layout). Good condition except for severely damaged cable.

If the key-caps are in superb condition (not being worn or scratched) then I would personally go for $70USD without question.

But if the keyboard is also bundled in with those key-caps, then a total of $150USD would be my limit ;) .

If you ever come across a NIB version, I'm afraid my Mrs would poison/strangle me without question....

Ok, here's a quick question: what's the current market value of the original Red Alert caps from sixty's group buy?

Zenith eaZy PC (ZKB-7) keyboard with SKCL Green switches. Needs a bit of new lube and retrobright. Cleaned the keycaps. Probably works.

How much would this go for?

2$
Spoiler:
Seriously, maybe 50$?
The Zenith labeled ones tend to go for a bit more I think. I paid 60$ for the white one and 70$ for the black one, IIRC.
A white label eaZy PC went for 40$ BIN recently.

Thanks!

why so angry though? Yes, I found it at the flea market for that price, but I don't like the switches enough to want to use it.

If we're going to start judging all the sales and re-sales here it's going to get hardcore Slom, at least green-squid is open about it, I've seen FAR worse cases here. The EU-factor makes this slightly more valuable than the US counterpats, of course a function-check would help. Even more important is the condition of the SKCL Greens.

UPDATE: I changed my mind and I won't be selling the keyboard, but I will sell the switches and put in clicky ones.

I noticed an IBM 5251 full computer system on ebay recently and was curious about the pricing/value. Here is the link- https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-IBM-52 ... Swnw9aRsCo

$2400 seems a bit high for this, especially when the keyboard appears to be in worse cosmetic condition compared to the 5251 that recently sold on ebay for $1000 (that one looked like it would clean up nicely and was pulled out of storage).

Any thoughts about best offer pricing?

User avatar
Myoth

21 Jan 2018, 19:21

It doesn't seem high for this, this is a full 5251 terminal from the early 80s.

The beamspring in this case doesn't really count as only a bunch of degenerates with more than a keyboard are interested in it , the full system however is very valuable as it, as I mentionned earlier, is from the early 80s.

So no, you won't snatch this for cheap. Maybe $2400 is expensive, but it won't go for much less (I mean even 2.4 times less).

Just wondering how much my Brown Alps Video writer is worth. The condition is as close to NIB as you can get from a used board and the switches are in fantastic shape.

I've been out of the keyboard world for awhile but if I were to price it based on past experience I'd say around $80.

With the price of Blue Alps the last couple of years, I'd say $200 or more.

P.S. That's quite a nice keyboard to find.
