Please write high quality wiki articles and illustrate them
with your best keyboard pictures or technical drawings!
Here is the link to start: http://deskthority.net/wiki/Main_Page
The wiki contest is about quality, not quantity!
The total number of articles is irrelevant!
However, the more quality articles a member writes,
the higher are the chances to win!
The Rules
Everybody who had an account at Deskthority before this contest started may participate.
If 2 or more members write at an article, the credits go always to the one
who contributed the main part. If there are more than one who contributed
significant content to an article, the price is split up.
There are 3 stages to find out the winners:
- Articles can be contributed until the 9th June.
- Then, everybody can nominate other members until the 14th June.
- A jury will decide who will be the nominees for the last stage of the contest:
The voting to find the winners out of the nominees will end on the 18th June.
All winners will be invited to the
International Deskthority Keyboard Party 2012 in Best.[1]
Prizes
The winners may choose from the following prices:
Group A
- NIB Bud Keypad (Hall Effect)
- Tipro KMQ-128 with some extra relegendable key caps
- MX 11800
- TypeMatrix JME-2020DE
Group B
- Round 3 key caps I will never use
- Spectravideo SV 328 (with thick doubleshots)
- Cherry G80-11900LTMUS
- Mystery prize
Group C
- Cherry G84-4400LPBUS-0
- 50 Cherry M7 switches
- Chery MX sample bag (red, green, blue, ..., black, lock)
- G80-2551 without key caps
Group D
- Nokia-Data with numpad
- Gateway 2000
- Ideazon Z-Board
- Mystery prize
The 1st prize is 4 items, 1 of each group.
The 2nd prize is 3 items, 1 of each group.
The 3rd and any other prize is 2 items, 1 of each group.
The 4th and any other prize is 1 item of any group.
The Jury
To become part of the jury, you must
a) contribute pizes which are related to input devices.
b) your contribution must be accepted by me!
All jury members (except me) may participate in the contest.
Jury members are:
- HaaTa
- webwit
- hoggy
- 7bit
Rules for nomination
Nobody may nominate her or himself.
People who bribe others to nominate them or set up a 2nd account
for that purpose are being disqualified from the contest. Same for
people who just copy&paste from other sites, even if it is content
they wrote themselves!
No pictures with water marks may be used! Uploading of these might
be according to the DT wiki policy, but leads to disqualification from
the contest!
Edit wars are not tolerated. Improvement of other's articles is allowed,
but does not count as contribution, unless really significant content is
added which is as valuable as the original content.
fine-print:

OK, but if this goes on that way, we have more people in the jury than in the contest.hoggy wrote:I've got an iso mx11800 that I'd like to donate.
BTW: Jury members are allowed to participate in the contest, so there is no excuse!

I was hoping you could leave that out Esp seeing how I'll have to start a post begging people to log their work there in a tedious format (also I'm not tracing more boards than I need to for personal use, at least not this way- i scanned the thing and drew every line manually.. paint.net didn't take to the worn down traces as one whole) and scour my bookmarks and generally search for those hidden posts with tracing info; I'd say that wiki is a work that grows with time and takes years to even be anywhere near complete/satisfying.
On that note, what's the preferred method of visualising matrices; this seemed most appropriate seeing this shows the original pcb lines for those that care, but it's not actually in matrix format
*Also there's that compendium on (diy)controllers that I'd started but not yet returned to (to make something useful out of); that at some distant point should prob be wikified, although mixing custom firmwares into the wiki.. I don't know :/
edit: now this seems like a b* to read xD

Nobody forces you to contribute or to participate in the contest.
Also, I did not criticise you, "carry on!" I said, not "move on!".

Myeah, was trying to visualise the off-topicness by fontsize.
@7b (and what little Spy saved of before the edit ), I know I know, just saying that I will probably continue on that, but that, esp considering it a community project, that it has around 0.01% chance of being relevant here
edit: Relevancy I forgot: nice initiative!

He will be a good candidate to win the Deskthority Wiki Contest in 2013.
ps: If nobody is as good as me in writing wiki articles, there will be no winner and all items belong automatically to my collection.

Btw, if someone wants to write an article but doesn't know what to write about. PM me or ask me on IRC. I can provide an initial brain dump
Got loads of content for potential articles, and most of them require external research to substantiate my opinions (e.g. patent browsing, product lineage) or just straight research because I actually know very little. And there is no way I'll be able to get to all of them, even over the next year. Especially as my collection is still growing...
Some day, I might do a section on keyboard protocols...but that is a long ways away. And will require me to draw lots of diagrams...

That article is kind of broken and severely lacking in content. I thought you'd have more to say about fonts since you're Mr. Typography. Also, did anyone other than yourself nominate you? 'Cause you know you're not allowed to do that, right?

Yeah, but the image manager in the wiki truly sucks.
Plus I have no HTML Skillz.
A simple copy/pasta for example moved this over to OCN.

Except for the Attachment images. Those are borked in my subforum for some unknown but suspicious reason.
