i knew i had seen it before..
do you know how the windowed keys were made/printed
they look 2shot but the bottom says no.

All LED-window keys are engraved and filled.

Great to see you found another variety of a Groß key.

Nope. All Cherry LED keys and keys with complex graphics are pad printed and then coated with a clear coating, that lasts about 2 years of heavy use. These keys have the exact same contrast as their double shot ABS keys.

If you move them around a bit in the light and compare them to a double shot one you will see it, assuming the keys are from a NIB sample. The coated keys have a very light shiny texture in a squareshape, almost filling the entire front of the keycap. It is actually hard to explain.

There is a single exception, where Cherry did infact make 2 engraved keys. This is on the newer revision of the Phoneboard, because the old ones wore off after a couple of years in use in call-centers. The newer phoneboard uses both the old pad-printed & coated keys, as well as 2 engraved and filled keys. This is the only time Cherry did this. The engraving is very noticeable and unlike the pad printing you can feel it.

With some color changes you can even slightly see the coating in this picture:

The coating is the slightly darker part of the keycap. You will find this on all types of complex and LED keys from Cherry.

It is very subtle, but it is there:

Looking at the small blue arrow on the Numlock, you can also tell that it is not engraved, because the original texture of the keycap is still present and visible through the slightly opaque arrow

Tall keycap with wings vs. normal keycap

Most of the keycaps look somewhat like Cherry double-shots (more pics will have to wait until I'm back in Canada), but the function row is not, and has extra tall keycaps (double-shots). Unfortunately one of the (normal) keycaps seems to have been lost during the last move...

Shit, I've got it on my list since it had been on the air.

It has got French layout, but some idiot swapped the key caps with German layout ones (the color difference is obvious).

The originals do not exist anymore, said the seller.

There are some more keyboards which might be interesting. However, don't know how easy it will be to find replacements for the missing keys, because thier color is darker and the labels are in dark grey. Gupil keyboards could be a possible source...

Let's see what the other boards really are. At least the Nixdorf has all original modifier keys, so it isn't that bad.

Regarding the different colour of the keycaps, I think I can contribute a set of evenly yellowed HAD alphanum keycaps (except of course for the 1.5 "0" keycap) to at least approximately match the modifiers. Or do those have French legends?

Btw. Did you succeed in bleeching yours?
