Love the spherical's across the top there.
I think your orders on geekhack would be pretty good if you did a few photo's of white Helvetia/Cherry font, on grey cap. Photo'd with those black cherry ds there would look quite dolch like and may rally interest.

Thanks Dirge
We are somewhat limited font wise with engraving and infilling but we are looking into as part of the development.

There was a lot of effort on geekhack to rally people to reproduce the cherry font, then Signature Plastics uncovered the $45ish per key tooling charge. I think if you put that one high on your list you may win some people over.
I love what you've got there, and when the ErgoDox come around which shouldn't be long, I'll be putting an order in.

Nice keys!
Not sure but think those are sideways mounted cylindricals on the keyboard top row. Engraved with colored infill it looks like to me for the lettered ones.
And it's Helvetica/Cherry FTW!
Actually I find the Cherry Bubbly Monoline "Plotter B" Font a tad Hipster Retro.
http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?2817 ... post538970
And since Geekhack is doing it ANY way I wouldn't bother doing that one.

Price dependent, I'd be interested in a set of white-on-red F keys. In my retrofantasy these look like the BBC:
... but if that's not possible, or if it's expensive, something more typically standard of font & shape would do.
I'd be looking at a set of 1-12 initially.

Just the red F-keys for now. I reckon they'd look a treat with old creamy Cherry DS. I always thought the white-on-red top row only added to the BBC's classy style. We couldn't afford one, I had a Spectrum. No desire to revisit those keys though.ripster wrote:Like the Apple II?

Oh, yeah, those are nice. And I guess those keys ARE sphericals but an oddball shape.
I always think IBM Selectric when I think spherical keytops.

BBC masters (some) have + mounts that with some dremelling fit cherry stems. Done it myself matenathanscribe wrote:

Awesome, I knew I wasn't the only one to try and 'cherrify' those old keys that use something resembling cherry's + with just a bigger cilinder surrounding it!dirge wrote:BBC masters (some) have + mounts that with some dremelling fit cherry stems. Done it myself mate
And since Rip mentioned the Selectric, I'll take this chance to mention both my fleamarket (mis-)buys:
*an Acorn Electron (BBC master's little elcheapo brother), cut the round part off of the stems on the front and back; now fit cherry, but damn are those high (and slightly wobbly on the 1.5u keys)! But quite awesome keys for sure.
Will probably use the casing as well at some point (well, the top half of it probably, seeing how it'd be too high for comfort otherwise)
*an IBM Selectric II, and being as unexperienced as I am, I figured the keycaps would require just some slight modding to fit cherry's.. also not aware that it was an *electric* typewriter I'd figure I'd never use that tank, hence just brought the keys along. As soft as the Electron's keys are, so hard are these sobs; tough as nails I tell ya. Haven't managed to make them fit nice and easily so far. Some day, maybe.
End of story, Electron switches are shite (perhaps Alps shite, saw some pics by someone lately that resembled those pretty closely), but the caps are bloody awesome. Pretty loud though, still prefer the sound of the thin pbt on the mx11800 here.

Witness GeekHack. Noobs can't even get their questions answered anymore. Everyone is just hanging around for the next ClickClack sale.
Damn, I sound like my whiny recently divorced friends!
Any pics? Always curious what the bottom of a key looked like.*an IBM Selectric II, and being as unexperienced as I am, I figured the keycaps would require just some slight modding to fit cherry's.. also not aware that it was an *electric* typewriter I'd figure I'd never use that tank, hence just brought the keys along. To be fair, us complaining about his use of the term 'community' is a bit silly. Replace keyboards with something that's likely as niche... say, pencil erasers... and suddenly it seems less irksome.
I think they look fantastic! Cannot wait to get my hands on some, if the price is right.

Most Selectrics are not in as good shape as you would think. Lots of problems with letter skipping and carriage return.
They were sturdy but required regular maintenance.
Where did the OP go?

back on topic, these are fucking beauties:
And off topic one last time; the Selectric was for sale since the owner moved to a 'house for the elderly', hence could've been in tip-top shape.
And, I seem to recall QWERkeys doing that time and time again, creating a new topic as update to their status; then posting nothing(/not much) in it after. And off topic one last time; the Selectric was for sale since the owner moved to a 'house for the elderly', hence could've been in tip-top shape.

I have a great Selectric Ripster guide but all the images are borked and I can't host it here because GH linking is not allowed.

O for fuck's sakes man, quit crying over spilt milk; you got banned so often it's not even funny anymore, and ofcourse some time would be the last.. Yeah you just about became GeekHack at some point, but you were crapping all over the place as well :/
Still not quite sure what to think of it in the end.
*edit: yeah I can imagine it sucks balls to have something that you dumped an unfathomable amount of hours into jacked away from you, and made even partly inaccessible. Just to make that clear, I do feel for you; yet otoh I can't say it was wholly undeserved, that only you can judge for yourself over time I guess.

Just upload them here? At least things load quickly here. Also, a lot of your Flickr, Imagebucket, and Imageshack stuff is broken at GH.ripster wrote:I have a great Selectric Ripster guide but all the images are borked and I can't host it here because GH linking is not allowed.

Hey
OK just to set the record straight, we are a business and in any business, people use tactics like my "our community" to attract customers. I am unable to be keeping up to date with every single post I make, I am just trying to keep you all informed of where we are up to and gauging opinion on our product so we can better it.
When we start making profit I will be donating some money to Geekhack and DT for the help we have been given so far. We appreciate your positive and negative comments on the product.
Hoping to have the website ready soon to make ordering easier.
Thanks
Sleabo
