Based on a battered and very scruffy G80-1813 board, I'm going to give it a spruce with a custom paint job and keycaps (if I ever find a complete set). I chopped the cable off it too and plan replace with it a coiled PS2 one. Or if I have enough funds may be I'll ask Pexon to custom make one as well....
Here's a photo of the top cover after primer and first coat. Yes this my final colour and not the primer finish... Going to lightly sand it again before another layer and then a clear matt coat finish.

It looks nice color, but you should have removed the lock lights decal before painting. You should grab one of cheap G81-7000H**US boards from ebay to replace those side print key. Cherry boards just look wrong with other than Cherry keycap to me.

This isn't finished yet and these are definitely not the keypcaps I want on them.. its just that they are all I have for now. You got a set I could buy? I harvested the dolche caps for my Filco. When the matt coat has been added and all dry, the masking tape over the decal area will be removedlysol wrote:It looks nice color, but you should have removed the lock lights decal before painting. No, but maybe you could buy the set I was supposed to buy from tinlong here.
Oh, you taped it off. That's good but if you do another Cherry in the future it is really easy to pop off the lock lights decal with a hobby knife.
