My new Roamer Sweetheart. Apologies for my not-very-photogenic wrist and the not-very-good photography.
I've wanted an automatic winding watch for years: partly because I think it's a gigantic inconvenience to replace the battery every couple of years, partly because I think it's just kinda cool and awesome that it's actually powered by actual clockworkings and keeps itself going even with my generally sedentary state.
I particularly like the way that the heart shape is a window through which I can see the mechanism wriggling about as it does its thing without having a full-on steampunk-style skellington watch.

As much as my indelicate wrist may not be the best ad for Roamer, I have to add that I'm pretty impressed with their customer service. I've lots of experience of indifferent to bad companies so it's really nice to be able to say that they were unusually helpful in answering my bunch of fairly random questions (including "can I wear it in the bath" to "where are the various bits made") but also didn't miss a beat when it came to getting me a replacement strap and a spare link for the existing one. And didn't rip me off either.
And it must be said that they've been way better than the seller, a well-known global e-tailer. For someone who hadn't even heard of Roamer a month ago, I'm pretty fangirly about them now.

Thats some nice watches you do have there, that heuer and the rolex ... man I would give up my entire keyboard collection for that rolex. Soooo wanna trade some realforces and a nova touch for that one ?seebart wrote: ↑Nice pics here guys.I own some watches most of which I inherited. I havent worn any for a long time and don't miss them. I was never into collecting watches like I am now with keyboards. That's a Heuer Autavia GMT from 1969 in the middle. It's nice but too flashy for me. Look at the dirt and you can guess how long these have been sitting in the closet.
But for real - if you ever want to sell any of them just let me know.
Also if you are ever to service the rolex do NEVER I beg you do NEVER let Rolex themselves lay there hands on it as they will replace vintage parts (dial, hands etc) with new once i.e. charm and history of watch is gone and also do NEVER EVER let anyone polish the watchcase. Just leave it all, trust me on this one.
Myself also a watch collector and hobby watch maker, mostly into seiko divers but have some others as well.
Some of my watches:
Seiko 6309-7040 from same year and month as myself
Marathon M-SAR
Marathon T-SAR
Seiko 6309-7040
Seiko 6306-7040
Tag Heuer 844/5

@laser and cookie
Yes this is a classic, decent time keeper, great look and the lowest priced nice quality automatic you can get new afaik, a great number of people have it here judging by the posts in this thread.

You should try automatic Timex to start with, they were pretty cheap a while back (not full case stainless steel though) not sure now, then stare at the second hand running and compare to the Festina (really not my cup of tea). This Binlun (which brand is that?) is quiet nice looking.
Gogusrl, the citizen is gorgeous, why not the Seiko diver SKX?

Here is a good deal at 1 pound, needs a good polishing and a revision, but working by the seller words, https://www.ebay.fr/itm/Vintage-Timex-A ... 3281654263

Talking about Raketa, ever seen their 24 hours 'polar' mechanical watch?

It's mostly about what I can find on the local craiglist equivalent at a decent price from my point of view. I'm still waiting for the right Seiko to pop up, I'm not really a big fan of their divers but there's some other nice stuff out there.
Some of the watches I'm considering buying next are :

That Binlun actually is my first mechanical watch now, it's some Chinese "brand" using Japanese movements.mecano wrote: ↑You should try automatic Timex to start with

Both the Festina and the Binlun are actually to heavy for my taste
