I will certainly keep you guys in mind. I placed a wanted ad with pictures of what I was looking for. That is how I found my beam spring desk. Seller claims to have 6 keyboards like what I had posted plus a bunch of other keyboards and electronics. Regardless, I doubt I will leave empty handed even if they are not beam springs. Once I get out of work in a few hours the fun will begin

Neat looking old keyboard. Anyone know what kind of switches these are? Seller added pictures with a key removed. Keytronics foam and foil?

Beware of that seller, I've had my dealings with him, he likes to take his time and usually only ships after ebay warnings and his packaging is an adventure in a bad way.
That's right, too expensive but nice. Those keycaps look exactly like the sphericals on my old Key Tronic:Slom wrote: ↑That's foam and foil, I'd say.

I had the same experience like Seebart, I bought a keyboard from him and the switches was scratchy as fuck (advertised as good condition), but that is subjective. Something that isn't subjective is that the spacebar stabilizer wire was missing and that is clearly not a good condition.

Hello, first time posting here, anyone knows if this keyboard is worth cleaning and fixing? Should I even bother?
The pins are bent.

That one will be a good test to see whether these $800 sales are an aberration or really what they're worth now.

$800 for any 5251 would be to much anyway. It would have to be in very good condition and we never can tell with these. Brilliant sales description though, that 5251 is probably not even from the 1970's either.Techno Trousers wrote: ↑That one will be a good test to see whether these $800 sales are an aberration or really what they're worth now.

Since we're talking Beamsprings, does anyone know how these can be accurately dated? The sticker found on the bottom (if not missing as this one is) appears to give the date code starting with the two digit year. The second group of numbers I would assume to be the week, leaving the third for up to 999 units in a week perhaps.seebart wrote: ↑that 5251 is probably not even from the 1970's either.
I have one with a bottom date code starting 76xxxxxxx, yet the top case is stamped 1982 inside, along with a second stamp from Polytech Coatings, which I assume to be the name of the company that applied the finish to the case itself. Seems that either I am decoding the date incorrectly or mine was sent to Polytech for finish work some years after it was made.
Anyone care to weigh in on this?
Edit: On closer inspection, the one in the auction looks to have a stamp on the rear beginning 73xxxxx. 1973 perhaps?
Edit (again): I completely overlooked that the cable on mine has a cloth hang tag also dated 1982, so I have to assume that the date codes are not in the format I was guessing. *shrug*
The 3277 66 key beamers have no case date stamp but they have stickers on the inside with build dates from the 1970s until 1979. But I'd say that the case date is the accurate one in that case and your speculations are wrong
