Hi, a short review. First the clicky one:
I really love them. The problem is, my girlfriend hates them. First i thought, the click would annoy me but no way.
I prefer the greens. The blues are too soft. i like stiffer switches.
But no chance of using them. My girlfriend and me living in a small flat and i have to respect her opinion.

The browns - before i got the switch, i thought, this would be my favorite switch, but no way. Its not really tacticle and too soft too use.
Which brings us to the Ghetto Reds: WAY TOO SOFT! No way!
Same with the Reds.
Clears with brown spring: too soft.
So only the blacks and the clears are left. I like both. The tacticle feature of the clears is a little bit strange when u press them slowly but when i type fast, (i think) i nearly never touch the ground with the switch. With the black its the same, but the activation point is not as acurate as that of the clears.

So to sum all this up, my next keyboard will be one with MX Clears or MX Blacks.

Just received a pm from Seac, taking the switches to the post office right now!

Hey Key Testers,

i just received the Key Samples. The first impression was really unexpected!

Here the short story...

I wanted to switch from a 0815 rubberdome to a cool mechanical Keyboard ;)

I did a lot of research on the web and in the different boards. At least i came to the concluson that it has to be a tactile switch... Some linear switches were out (Blacks, Reds, etc.)! To get some idea of how they will sound i listened to many of the provided Soundsamples in the world out there. To get a real example was not possible.

A very nice person from the geekhack.org board sent me a link to the following sound example:

http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:19638

It was really the best one i came over.

But...

You always have to consider, that the actual keyboard has some other sound altough you have the same switchtype in. It is the same like with guitar. The corpus is the thing that makes some characteristic sound! So keyboards may sound simmilar until you do not bottom the keys out... It also depenss, if you have the keyboard direkt on the table (made of wood?, steel?, glas?) or on some kind of mat... This are just small differences but there is some... What makes much more difference is the Quality and the kind of material that is used.

At least to sum up, i had to make my decision and i had a lot of stuff to type, so i decided to buy a keyboard with blues! I was in between the "Das Keyboard" and the "Filco Majestouch". For ergonomic reasons i decided to take the Filco, because they had the tenkeyless version, so i have a cool small keyboard without the numpad and i really dont type so much numbers ;)

And one other pro is that it has the minimal size i wanted... Mouse is nearer and i fell more comfotable with typing and using the mouse... "IF" The Keyboard Producers would realize that it is much more useful to design keyboards like this...

Right Hand Mouse Users = Numpad on the Keyboard Left Side
Left Hand Mouse USers = Numpad on the Right Side

Then i would buy again a full keyboard. Now i will buy the filco numpad extra soon and put it on the left hand side...

Am i the Only one that would like to have the Numpad on Left side?

Well, so much for the story! My experience so far say... I really made the right decision! For some more silence i would recommend the Clears with brown Springs!

We will see if i change my decision when i have some more time to test them during the week... ;)

Is there a Keyboard to buy with the Clear Brown combo? Or do i have to do this on my own? Because i like the more obvious tactile feeling from the clears, and the better easyness to press a Brown Spring!

Anyone Knows?

Regards

Seac

Seac, if you want it, it exists some numpad which can be bought separatly. But it uses an additional USB port and I dunno if it exists with mechanical switches.
Here's an example (please note I don't use it, and never bought any of them as I'm using full keyboards) :

Then you can put it right or left :D

Thank you, but if i go for this one, this is my choice ;)

http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_deta ... RODUCT=620

I am just asking if there is an keyboard that is shipped with the Clearswitches using Brown Springs...

I really got a Fan of my Filco Tenkeyless with blues... I reused the rubberdome keyboard for some reason i i tought it is so hard to type on and there must be something worng... It just felt strange and wrong, while i got used to the Mechanical one!

Never tought this would be such an impressive difference!

Revived today. Can the next person PM me so I can get this moving.

I don't like liner switches so I will leave them out. And I will review clicky separately to tactile as I like them both and feel BS is better than blue or green.

Clickys
first the blues I like these but feel they are to light. I like the greens a lot more but they still have nothing on BS. They just don't feel as stable and the click sounds very bright. At least this has shown me that the best clicky IMO is BS.

Tactile
First up, the browns. I don't like these they feel more frictiony than tactile. I like the ergo clears but they are just to light, I guess you can see where this is going. I love the clears, there nice and tactile and heavy enough for my heavy hands. I like them so much I am on the lookout for a clear board now.

oha, Australia is on fire. Only two more needed to make a run in the Outpost ;)
Hurry and i will close the 2nd round for you.

@All
PLZ exchange your Addresses right in time!

i know it's hard to keep an eye to this thread that long time until your are next inline.
But it should be possible. It's up to participants to keep this fluid.

Conclusion:

I'd prefer Clears, then Reds and Blacks (more Reds than Blacks, the strong spring lets your pinky get weary). Greens feel like Blues with Clear spring, but I don't need the clickieness (yes, I just made that word up :P).
I didn't like Browns, the spring is too weak for my MX-Black-marked Fingers ;)
Ghetto-Reds are way to expensive, as you have to buy to fullprice keyboards. Same goes for Ghetto-Browns.

I contacted kemerd but he didn't reply yet. If he doesn't respond till monday, I will send it to the next, SBI. I already contacted him and got his address, so they will be on there way by monday ;)

There goes my hope receiving the keys before christmas. :(

You could speak with the next guy after SBI and ask him, if you could go ahead ;)
If he denies, then the next guy, then the next...

23 Oct 2011, 13:26

Best thing to do is to ask for the adress of the next guy BEFORE recieving the switches.

Everyone that don't have the adress of the next guy should ask for it now

Hello,

I registered just to participate to this. I'm a long times Model M user and I'm looking for something quieter and all black.
This is a wonderful idea and will save a lot of time and money trying various boards.
Could you put me in list? I'm located in Italy.
