No worries. It's not the seller's fault, but my failure to read the appropriate thing in the wiki and/or do some extra Googling. I see no reason why the seller should have to suffer because of my mistake.

FWIW, I now have a discount with the seller and he does have some interesting stuff.
If the seller accepts returns mate then you can pretty much return the item for any reason.
When a seller doesn't accept returns the only way you can return an item is if the sellers item isn't as described or it arrives damaged.

You're well within your right to return it, and your sellers policies reflect that.
Kudos to you for being an excellent buyer though, I wish there were more buyers on ebay with similar common decency.

Thanks for the compliment, wobbled.

I'll keep it. I might clean it up and mount it on the wall or something. Hey, I might like it, even.
It looks like it has Mitsumi dome switches -- I'm not sure which ones -- and I haven't tried those.

I found this one interesting. Osborne OCC1 keyboard. $54.99 w/o shipping.
Long thread here. Oak Full Travel Membrane switches. Really pretty keycaps.

I'll also mention this ad for an NEC APC-H412. Bids start at $30.
This is one of the more common NEC blue oval switch keyboards. Note that the seller says it has some switch issues, so the prices might stay sane.

IBM mushy Rubber Dome
quoted from the seller: "You're fond of Vintage keyboards, the clicky ones, but you've never tried a rubber dome made by IBM. You are curious to exactly know how IBM sent its excellent keyboard core business straight to the hell. This auction is for YOU."

A little bit pricey if we consider that on buyee a couple of weeks ago IBM 5575-1 battleship Alps SKCP went for under 90€ even though among custom fees, taxex, commission and shipping the price would raise up to 200€. sob

Could also have white SKCM or black SMK-like switches. Costar seems to have used the same model numbers for different case styles and layouts, and many different switch types.

Interesting. Clarkson Zenith Z-100. According to this thread, it has Alps SKCC cream. Really nice looking double-shot caps.
ATM, it's $50. However, shipping to me is $45.

I don't know what the current value of Alps SKCC keyboards is.

EDIT: sold for $76.

NIB Focus FK-2001, with book and dust cover. Fairly early version, with "scrawly" white SKCM switches. Way out of my price range, but interesting if nothing else, and it is a make-offer auction.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/125075663773

Has anyone ever done a direct comparison between the "scrawly" (Korea?) switches and regular (Taiwan?) switches of the same vintage?

I also noticed this and was interested until I saw the price. Way too high in my opinion, given blue alps boards are usually in that price range. Regarding your question about the switches, are you referring to the logo vs no-logo on the top of the switch?

Agreed on the price, but being a Make Offer auction there's nothing to lose by shooting them an offer.

I have several examples of the no-logo and early logo switches, and to me the no-logo and very early logo white switches are very similar to or the same as blues. The "scrawly" switches are something different--they have logo housings with mold numbers that look hand carved. See the example at the bottom of the wiki page:

wiki/Alps_SKCM_White

Recently the listing below was posted with scrawly blue alps switches with logos on the upper housings, and I was wondering if these sound and feel like "normal" blue Alps? It had been mentioned before that some blue Alps had upper housing logos, but this is the first time I had seen an actual example, and that got me curious. Also the first blues I'd seen with the scrawly mold numbers, and maybe it all ties together--logo housings, scrawly mold numbers, and a second factory in Korea or someplace?

Cortron made some rubber domes dated in the 90s that are the same profile. This looks like it's a 2000 dated board so I'd say probably not.

Depending on where you are in the world, this would be an exceptional buy: Rolm 46511. Currently $12.28 US. Shipping is calculated. To me, it's almost $70. I've bought way too much for the next couple weeks.

Per mcmaxmcmc on YouTube (also a member here), this has green Alps and Alps MSX R3 Uniprofile Keycaps. Well, at least mcmaxmcmc's does.

Auction ends in 1 day, 9ish hours.

This one's interesting, at least. Leading Edge 249-8546. Oak full-travel membrane switches. You can see the switch take-apart on this wiki page. Currently $150.
