yes, that's not unreachable. It would be 6 units, but who knows, maybe 6.25 would be also possible. I actually would prefer 6 but of course 6.25 would be more wide spread7bit wrote:800/25 == $32matt3o wrote:oh just got pricing. they are pretty good except for kit 2 and 3 which are in the $50 range at 50 tier. All the rest goes from 9 to 25 (always at the 50 tier). Anyway you can have a TKL/colemak/dvorak/winkeyless/... with $75 which seems pretty reasonable. Tomorrow or in the weekend I'll start the group buy.
It would be possible to make a standard DSA spacebar but it would cost us around $800.
800/50 == $16
This is not out of reach!
Will it be 6.25 units, or 6 units?

I'm afraid a 6.25 units key would cost alittle more. We paid $3500 for the tools of each space bar in the SA-family (6.25 and 7 units). A G80-18000 space bar should be quite useful.

$3500 would be too much unless we reach unrealistically high volumes. We can do the 6u if we reach a high tier.7bit wrote:I'm afraid a 6.25 units key would cost alittle more. which kits is the final kits?
Will kit 7, 8, 9 & 10 be available in plum color to? The pricing would be the same in that case right?
I hope there are two 1u commodore keys in KIT 2 & KIT 3

it's not 100% final as Melissa said something about missing legends, but anyway I'm going to remove all keys SP doesn't have the legend for (except for Commodore key), so the price can only decrease
also she didn't quote all the blank keys... today I believe they are close so we have to wait until monday, I'll set up the GB anyway in this weekend

Yes, the sprue mark should be at the back. They are able to do upside down text, they did it with a Caps Lock key in Round 3 (or was it Round 1?).
This will be the best key caps group buy ever!

this is pretty important actually. I'll put a note and ask her about it when we go production.dirge wrote:most important! As these are uniform profile can you tell Melissa to put the fucking sprue mark AT THE FUCKING BACK!
Hope so, DSA seems pretty problematic.7bit wrote:Yes, the sprue mark should be at the back. They are able to do upside down text, they did it with a Caps Lock key in Round 3 (or was it Round 1?).

yes, price would be the same, but I'd prefer not to dilute the orders too much between colors.simkev wrote:Will kit 7, 8, 9 & 10 be available in plum color to? The pricing would be the same in that case right?

How so? If a kit breaks the first price tier people wants it and in that case it is worth to include the kit, if not it wont be ordered. More color to the people!matt3o wrote:yes, price would be the same, but I'd prefer not to dilute the orders too much between colors.simkev wrote:Will kit 7, 8, 9 & 10 be available in plum color to? with only one color in the "advanced group" everyone has to buy that color, hence lower price. If we reach high volumes I'm more than happy to add more options (if our US proxy agrees). I have no idea how this will go, maybe we will get just 50 orders, and in that case it is better to stick with one color (at least 50 people will be served).

for standard kits 50 is a self imposed MOQ (first tier with decent price).
On advanced there's no real MOQ, I'd say would be nice to reach 25 at least, but advanced users are prone at spending a bit more I believe. So if 1 kit receives only 1 order and that person is willing to hand $100 just for it... well...

I’m really sorry to mess with your kits again, but could you put a second CTRL into the “1.0 mods” kit? It would be good for G80-1800’s, as they need two 1.0 unit CTRLs.

I'm sorry RC-1140 but you'll have to buy 2 kits. I know it's lame but we talked about it and there's no way to make everyone happy. consider that 1.0 mods are the less expensive of all (around $5), also you could use ctrl and hyper or meta (consider that the numpad additional keys are just for you )
if there's an overwhelming demand we could place back the 1.0 mods in the base kit anyway.

Well... that was the plan, but I left the keyboard at work. Tonight!Piers Cawley wrote:I can do a test of the Kinesis with sphericals using the ones I've pulled off my Maltron; Not sure they're the same profile, but should give me some idea of how things work. The default Kinesis profiles are amazing; they appear to be both column and row dependent, using profile shape to help keep the (flexible) PCB curves a wee bit more consistent than in the maltron. I shall give it a try and report back. Probably after the weekend.

thanks!
I can share it for future group buys. I plan to add connection to paypal API for invoicing and some more stats and graphs in the status page (such as biggest contributors )

That's a very nice interface you've built there. I hope there are enough buyers for those TKL kits to get the prices down
I know you said you were debugging, but will the order I put in stay, or will I have to re-enter?
Thanks matt3o!
edit:
Great, another page to hit F5 on every few minutes... and it hasn't even been up yet for that long.
How about an email notification for OCD people who want to know when the GB Status page has changed
