Yes that is a very important point. The islamic state warps Islam into their own propaganda for example.kbdfr wrote: ↑And of course there are idiots making their own interpretation of it, exactly like those people who "in the name of life" shoot abortion doctors in the US.

Why wouldn't they want to go to Germany or Sweden? They get benefits, shelter, and get to live in a first world country. I'm sure plenty are fleeing, but there are other incentives too.

Absence of gun control and death penalty are both considered uncivilized in the vast majority of Europe.Redmaus wrote: ↑[…] I'm not sure what point you trying to make with guns and death penalty.
Following your argumentation, Europe shouldn't admit people who grew up in a country where they are considered normal.

Your arguing semantics, religion, ideology it makes no difference. The ideas that this particular ideology/religion portrays are horrible, its not just the people who commit the shootings and bombings , the teachings of the general moderate are still to subjugate women , stone people to death for getting raped , kill people who leave the faith and so on.
If someone came up with the idea that the sky does not exists and its a tapestry painted by god then i would poke holes there stupid idea too.

But if they need to be safe from war, shouldn't they be worried for the safety of their families(which are absent in refugee numbers) and not care as long as they are safe?

Yes that's right, many have to leave their family behind. Pretty horrible situation for them. Many even now go back by themselfs just to be reunited with their family.Redmaus wrote: ↑But if they need to be safe from war, shouldn't they be worried for the safety of their families(which are absent in refugee numbers) and not care as long as they are safe?

For example, I can imagine that Nigerians whose fields have been ruined by Shell oil spills would now like to live in the US. Of course they can't, they are "only" economic refugees.

Bad things happen. If we took in everyone western countries would most likely collapse. I am saying this because when a population change is introduced so quickly, the existing system cannot sustain the change.

True. But how else to go about it is a hard choice.
Give everything to the poor? Most people like to keep what they earn and many don't care.
Now back to legos

Its the people that have lived in barbaric and uncivilized society that I don't like. I think it is a mistake to invite people like that into a mainly Christian, European society. After all, they carry guns and apply the death penalty.
Completely agree. I actually recently visited the museum at Auschwitz-Birkenau since I live reasonably close to it now. At the time I was totally dumbfounded by the similarities in attitudes. Truly horrifying. It made an already incredibly somber experience feel so much more real.
But, I digress. Let's talk about lego.

If we truly had democracy, you could vote to deport your neighbors, and your neighbors could vote to deport you.
This is why it is so critical that we liberals control the media, and use it to stigmatize conservative beliefs, like anti miscegenation and islamophobia. Unfortunately, we are failing. We had a good run for a while. Open racism used to be much more acceptable here in Scotland in the 1980s for instance. But progress is far from always guaranteed:

That is a pretty scary president to set.
What if conservatives controlled the media and used it to stigmatise liberal views ?
