Options I considered are:
- Cyanoacrylate -- superglue, loctite etc. which sometimes leaves a misty white bloom on some surfaces, and reveals fingerprints, due to the vapour it emits while setting. I don't want to mar the appearance of the badge;
- Epoxy -- this feels too permanent. Might not really be a problem, I doubt that I want to remove the badge;
- Silicone sealant or some other decorator's filler. Less permanent, but might not be sufficient to hold the badge secure.
- Double-sided sticky tape. Not really appropriate in my experience, some brands of tape I have used have not aged at all well, becoming brittle or turning into goo. The sponge tape variety will make the badge protrude from the recess, and make it vulnerable to scratches.
How should I try to remove the old brittle brown glue residue on the badge and case?
