Actually I do keyboard controllers (and other peripherals) as a business. Our latest controller has a 24 x 16 matrix. The design target was to put as many options into the controller as possible. They get used in industrial and special purpose keyboards. There are usually small volumes but lots of variants. We wanted to cover as much as possible with one standard design

Yes, some applications need lots of keys and since we did not want to make a whole zoo of controllers (had that before, 25 variants…) we just did one that should cover everything.

Actually it is beyond impractical

This is not a layout for working with it, it is just a test setup. Though I have gotten requests from people who would like to have such a sea of keys to control stuff, like music production software.

Why not the eight-way arrow block as seen on the FK-9000, some Omnikeys, the Gateway 2000 Anykey, etc?

Maybe even extend it 16-ways so we can finally have a "south by southwest" key (macro: down, down, left)

Also, after looking at way too much stereo equipment of a certain vintage, a prominent "QUARTZ LOCK" light is needed.

Both would be simple to do with the KeyWarrior100. There are 240 macros available with up to 31 keystrokes each. And there are 8 lock LEDs that can be assigned to show any lock state, including FN-lock. Quartz is not a standard lock status for USB
