Cherry G81-3000 repair or replacement

Hi!

I picked up a Cherry G81-1000 from the scrap in the hopes I would be saving something old and valuable. As it turns out the cut off cable wasn't the only problem though. The keys 3, E, D and C aren't working. The traces are covered by the metal back plate. I guess I could remove all the switches and bridge the broken trace. But these are MY switches and I feel it's not really worth it.

So my idea is to maybe replace the entire plate with a PCB that takes MX switches. I've read somewhere that not all caps from the MY switches fit the MX switches. But I'd keep as many of the originals as possible. Since it's such a wide-spread model I'm wondering if there are replacement boards or schematics available. The flexible PCB (between the metal plate and the switches) says G81-3000 on it, even though the sticker on the housing says G81-1000. It does look like the pictures in the wiki.

If such a replacement board does not exist I'd think about making one myself. Copying the traces for the right matrix shouldn't be too complicated. But if I'll remove all the switches anyway, repairing the original would be an option again. So I'm not sure yet what I'll do with this. It's mainly a nostalgia thing. And the one I had back then had MY switches as well. But turning it into a good and modern keyboard that I'd actually like to use but in the original case would also be nice.

What would you do? And are the replacement PCB or schematics that fit the case?
