ACER 6312-ta *RESTORED*

Ok DT,

Recently I was given a keyboard for Acer 6312-ta completely deplorable conditions as you can see:













I thought you only thing I could do was clean it with fire, large amounts of fire, but decided to put it directly in the dishwasher and see what happens (plastic parts only):









I was still getting too yellowish so I decided to try the hydrogen peroxide as was recommended in DT:







In the end after all the process and found new keyboard for the office!

It's a truly wretched thing to type on, but the click is very delicate — far more suitable for the workplace than Cherry or Alps switches.

Funny, I thought the 'W' in 6312-TW was for "Windows", but clearly not, as you have a 105-key "TA" variant.

Another keyboard with a useless ¬ key — no idea why IBM felt that you needed ¬, but none of ∧, ∨, ∃, or ∀ (amongst others). For many years, ¬ was the sole reason why the UK needed Alt Gr. (Well, that or the equally stupid and equally useless ¦ …)

Alt Gr was so truly useless on UK keyboards at the time that neither I nor anyone I knew had the foggiest idea what it was even for. An old joke was that it was a dummy key, there just to trick you into pressing it. "Alt? Grr!"
