Ampex Data Systems Corporation is an American electronics company founded in 1944 by Russian-American inventor Alexander Matthew Poniatoff. They had their first success with reel to reel tape recorders and later played a key role in making home VCRs possible. Over time they became a provider for the US DoD and currently also work with companies such as Boeing, Lockheed and General Atomics.
