KW 1000 (keyboard, wireless) is a low-cost rubber dome over membrane wireless multimedia keyboard from Cherry. Cherry no longer list this model for sale.
Description
The keyboard features ten media keys. Volume down, mute, and volume up are flat buttons placed in front of the left end of the space bar. Previous track, play/pause and next track are three more flat buttons, in front of the cursor keys. Above the numeric keypad are four extra keys: triangle in a circle (media player?), e-mail client, home page, and sleep.
The keyboard uses discrete rubber domes. Smaller domes are used for the six keys at the front, while the top row uses standard domes despite having smaller keycaps. The space bar stabiliser is well lubricated.
Wireless operation is on 2.4 GHz, with with an approximate range of eight meters. The battery compartment fits two AAA cells, and maximum current draw from the keyboard is 5 mA. A red LED on the controller appears to shine through a small hole in the case when the battery level is low. A USB receiver is supplied for connecting the keyboard to a computer. To maximise battery lifetime, there are no status LEDs.
The flip-out feet extend sideways, and are not rubber coated.
Judging from the photos, it appears that four of the twelve screws that secure the case are hidden under the stationary rubber feet.
