Cherry RC series

The RC series is a series of six ortholinear POS keyboards[1] released in late 2006[2] for use in grocery, convenience, dollar, and specialty stores.[3] They are rebranded keyboards manufactured by Tipro and use Cherry MX Black switches. The keyboards feature black relegendable keycaps and a detachable Tipro Cable. They include a CD with a rebranded version of Tipro ChangeMe software to reprogram the keyboard through a PS/2 port and software ("RC Label") to print labels to put under the keys.
Although branded as a Cherry product, these keyboards are almost certainly rebranded Tipro keyboards.
Product range
The RC series includes the following keyboards:[3][4]
- RC80B: 16*5 keyboard
- RC80BM: 16*5 keyboard with magnetic card reader
- RC80BKM: Marked by Cherry as "special order," 16*5 keyboard with magnetic card reader and key lock
- RC128B: 16*8 keyboard
- RC128BM: 16*8 keyboard with magnetic card reader
- RC128BKM: Marked by Cherry as "special order," 16*8 keyboard with magnetic card reader and key lock
The RC128 models also include a daisy chain port.[5]
By looking at some of the .KID files included with the configuration software, which appear to be defining keyboards that the application can use, we can determine that the RC80 series keyboards are rebranded FCX-080 keyboards, and the RC128 series keyboards are rebranded MID-KM128A keyboards. The file TM_KID/FCX080.KID has the field ModuleName as "FCX-080 keyboard," but has the field "RcName" as "Keyboard (RC80B, RC80BM)," and the file MID_KID/K128.KID has a similar pattern, with the ModuleName as "MID-KM128A."
