The Commodore 16 was a low-cost 8-bit home computer, intended to replace the Commodore VIC-20. It was a larger version of the Commodore 116 with a "real" keyboard, but was released first. It also shares some hardware with the Commodore Plus/4
The case is a "breadbin" similar to the Commodore 64 and VIC-20, but in black and with different ports.
The keyboard is mechanically the same as late-model Commodore 64 but grey and with some different legends. Most notably, there are four cursor keys on the top row in-between 0 and Del, whereas the C116 instead has a "cursor diamond" in the lower-right corner. The ← key has been relabelled "ESC", and the function keys have been renumbered to f1/f4, f2/f5, f3/f6 and Help/f7 instead of odd/even like before.
