Heathkit Company, Inc. is a Saint Joseph-based educational systems company that is famous for their detailed electronics kits for building things from amateur radios to computers. Heathkit (the computer division) was bought out by Zenith Radio Systems in the early 1980's after falling into hard times, leading to the Heath/Zenith computers (and keyboards). This same division was later bought out by the Bull Group of France, and closed down.
The Heathkit Company still exists today as an educational systems company. And has begun to sell kit systems again after a long 20 year hiatus.
