Hirose is a Japanese company specializing in the manufacturing of electric switches and sensors. Hirose Electric Group is the major shareholder.[2]

History
Hirose was founded in 1937 as Hirose Shokai in Tokyo, and later restructured to become Hirose Manufacturing. In 1963 it was renamed to Hirose Electric.
In August 1968, Hirose became the sole Japanese distributor for Cherry Corp.. In March 1973, a joint venture was started with Cherry Corp. In May 1973, Hirose Cherry Precision (also simply called Hirose Cherry, 「ヒロセチェリー」: "Hirose Cherry") was officially founded. In October 1983, it started sales of the Cherry MX series.[3] Cherry itself referenced to Hirose Cherry as "Cherry Japan".[4]
In August 2004 Hirose changed the company name to HST, after Hirose Sensing Technology.[5]
Currently known as the Hirose Electric Group, the company owns 8 subsidiaries in the Far East, India, Europe and the United States.
