Introduction
The Hitachi HT-4296-15X is a 123-key Japanese layout keyboard made by Topre. It is likely used in accounting or banking environments and appears to be similar in design and features to the JDL keyboards which are also made by Topre.
Description
The HT-4296-15X has inputs for a magnetic card reader (labelled 'MCR') and display in the top-left corner of the keyboard and for connecting a mouse in the top-right corner. The switches on the HT-4296-15X appear to be uniformly weighted 55cN. There are height-adjustable feet on the back and two horizontal rubber strips under the front edge for stabilisation. The enclosure itself does not use any screws and it can be opened simply by prying the seam at the rear with a screwdriver or sturdy knife.
The keyboard can be interfaced with a standard PC using a PS/2 cable connected to the 'Display' port on the keyboard.
