Maltron is a manufacturer of ergonomic keyboards using Cherry MX switches.
The Maltron keyboard layout was created by Lillian Malt. The merits of the design are detailed in her paper titled "Keyboard Design in the Electronic Era"[1], first presented at the PIRA conference in September 1977.
The popular Kinesis keyboard is based on the Maltron design, but the design historically omitted the numeric keypad in the centre of the keyboard in order to circumvent the Maltron patent.
