Novelty keys or novelty keycaps are keycaps whose purpose is solely decorative. Some keyboard manufacturers and resellers include novelty keycaps in the box with new keyboards, particularly keys such as WASD and escape. Such keycaps may bear standard legends (i.e. the symbol or text from the stock keycap that they are intended to replace), or they may bear text and images unrelated to the functionality of a keyboard, such as "PANIC" or an "awesome face".
Novelty keycaps are typically purchased in doubleshot group buys from Signature Plastics.
