Omron ball contact is a provisional name for a type of low-profile switch virtually identical in size and shape to (but not keycap-compatible with) Futaba low-profile linear but using a ball contact system like with in Tokai MM9 series. Just as with MM9 series and its clones, the switch is sealed with melted lugs.
The switch bears Omron branding on the base.
Description
The exterior design appears functionally identical to Futaba low-profile linear, but the keycap mount is different; Futaba MD/MR/ML switch series keycaps do not fit, while SMK J-M0404 series keycaps are accepted. Internally the switch is totally different. Further, the terminal location is 90° out in relation to the locating pegs when compared to ML series, which further prevents the switches from being exchanged.
