Introduction

The Royal Kludge RC930-87 is a tenkeyless (TKL) size keyboard that utilizes an electrostatic capacitive switch technology featuring full (all key) programmability, full N-key rollover, and Cherry MX compatible mount. Three versions are available: (1) uniform 35g-weighted characterized by soft tactile feedback (somewhat rare), (2) uniform 45g-weighted (most common); and (3) uniform 55g-weighted with even more tactility. Same as Noppoo 108EC-Pro, Royal Kludge RC930-87 is an attempt to recreate Topre switches typing feel by cloning the switch.

Availability and reception

Royal Kludge RC930-87 is, currently, not commonly available outside China. In fact, everything (packaging, directions) indicates that the keyboard is intended for the consumers in China. Most commonly sold configuration is the backlit (RGB LED) version with ABS keycaps in 45g. The direct competitor is Cooler Master NovaTouch TKL that has the advantage of using genuine Topre switches but at a higher price. The reception has been mixed, from mildly positive to critical about the company's lack of identity transparency. The packaging, the internals, and Fn functions are almost identical to Noppoo 108EC-Pro. It's possible that both Noppoo and Royal Kludge use the same OEM or that RK is simply a subsidiary of Noppoo. Users looking for a full size version of this keyboard should look for Royal Kludge RC930-104.
