History
Telex Corporation was established in 1936 as Telex, a partnership between Allen Hempel and Ralph Allision. Their initial product was the first wearable vacuum tube hearing aid. Telex went public in 1959, and used the capital raised to acquire companies with related business lines. In 1963 the name was changed to The Telex Corporation. In 1970, the Midwest Instruments division was renamed Telex Computer Products and used to consolidate the growing range of computing products under one division. In 1976 Telex acquired Raleigh, NC based Terminal Communications Inc, a manufacturer of IBM 3270 compatible terminal equipment.[1]
