Description
The Type S Signal Keyswitch was a proprietary keyswitch designed for use on some Mohawk Data Sciences keyboards in the late 1970's into the 1980's until the company went defunct. The switch design consists of an MX shaped and sized mount over top a stainless steel spring with a urethane dampening foam cylinder in the center of the spring. Beneath the spring is a snap disk made of stainless steel that is used to make contact with a gold contact that is connected to the PCB. The switch is soldered to the PCB with a brass shim in between the plastic housing and the circuit board. A leg of the switch is also welded to the PCB to ensure the switch is unable to break free.
