Introduction
I am a person, definitely not some sentient android editing the wiki pages of Deskthority. I live on the east coast of the USA, and I go by Delta Research on most sites (or Delta for short).
Hobby-wise I'm interested in both custom mechanical keyboards and vintage keyboards as well. Lately I've been collecting more vintage boards since they're cheaper and use a variety of different switches rather than the same old MX found in modern customs. Feel free to ask me about any of the boards I've had or currently have.
Keyboard Collection
I own a couple of keyboards that are keyboards.
- Andromeda TKL with Cthulhu frankenswitches and BCP on modifiers, CRP APL, and TX stabilizers - Very nice typing experience, pretty much MX endgame for me.
- Heartwave TKL - Obscure Kustom board? I barely know anything about the board's history.
- Qwertykeys QK65 - Switch tester board
- IBM Model M 1390131 - Dream Model M, bolt-modded and a beloved daily driver from time to time.
- IBM Model M 1393464 - Cool Model M with cool keycaps
- IBM Model M 41G3600 - Seriously thought I would never get my hands on one of these but here we are.
- IBM Model M2 1395707 - The M2 feels different to buckling springs, more reminiscent of a beamspring than buckling springs. However, the build quality is incredibly shoddy.
- IBM Model F AT - Very smooth switches and unique sound, this one is definitely a nice daily driver.
- IBM Model F 5291 - Types very well and has a unique sound signature, along with the ridiculously large bezels.
- IBM Model F 3178 - Decent all-rounder and unique because of the solenoid, but has a very flimsy bottom case with cracks in it.
- IBM Model F 122 - Project keyboard that needs a lot of restoration work
- Burroughs RIII Keyboard - Bought this NOS, switches are very smooth and the keyboard itself is flawless. Only one found so far to my knowledge.
- Nabu KBD-2 with SKCC Cream - Bought this NOS and the switches were pretty smooth but got even smoother after some typing on it. Condition is 10/10.
- NEC APC H410-E - Bought this NOS, and switches are incredibly smooth.
- Microsoft Natural Keyboard with Keytronic Dome & Slider - Interesting to have with the original box, got this from my dad as he bought it quite a long time ago.
- Acorn Electron Keyboard Module - Has Futaba ML, very bad switches.
- NOS DEC-style linear space invader keyboard - Very nice and deep sound once lubed, working on getting this on XT so it's easier to convert.
- NOS ISO-DE clicky space invader keyboard - Light click makes for an enjoyable clicky typing experience.
- BTC 5100C - "Wet" sounding rubber domes, it's an interesting keyboard.
- HHKB Pro 2 - Lubed with Molykote EM-30L, decent enough keyboard but imo it's way too expensive to buy for retail.
- AT&T 3700/3B1 Keyboard - ITW Mag Valve, nice tactility and it's built pretty well. I still need to restore it properly but it's already 85% there.
- Dell AT101 (Pine Black) - Busted cable, busted PCB, scuffed caps. Not the greatest condition, trying to source some replacement parts for it.
- Unitek K-151L - Vintage MX Black 1986. Smooth switches and overall a pretty nice keyboard to use.
Formerly Owned Keyboards
These are keyboards that I no longer own.
- Tiger 80 with Crink (Gateron Ink housing, NK cream stem) franken switches and cherry-topped variant on modifiers, ePBT 9009, TX & staebies - used to be my only custom keyboard before I sold it to a friend.
- Dell AT101W with SKCM Black - Got this for quite cheap as my first Alps board, after waxing and cleaning the switches were 10/10.
- Apple M0116 with SKCM Salmon - I traded the oranges off and replaced them with restored salmons. I later sold the board locally.
- IBM Model M 71G4644 - An IBM Model M but with rubber domes instead of buckling springs. I bought this in a bundle with the Dell AT101W thinking it was buckling spring. The domes feel crisp but they have travel that's too short for my liking.
- IBM Model M 1392595 USB converted, soft touch modded - I really like the tactility of the Model M but sometimes the sound and weight are a bit too much for me. After getting used to it and soft touch modding it (greasing the springs and keycaps with Tribosys 3203), it is the best keyboard for typing that I have.
- Focus FK-2001 with SKCM White - Waxed the switches on this, 8/10 but the case and keycaps are heavily yellowed.
- IBM Model F XT - Model F, ping ping ping ping ping ping ping ping
