1. pins and pcb I will be using Cherry mx Browns PCB mounted with diodes. What I want to know is, does the PCB have to be raised from the case with standoffs? If it's not will the pins from the keyswitch fit all the way down? You really should raise the PCB with standoffs. Cherry MX Keys are throug...

"clear case" means the key body case or it is for the keycaps? (if they are included) Clear case means that the case is clear 8-) You can take a look at the switch at the german homepage of cherry: http://cherry.de/cid/b2b_tastenmodule_CHERRY_MX1A-GxxA_B.htm? With the clear case you can mount an SM...

And you think Cherry would have done the same? Absolutely. Everything fits perfectly. The housing of the switches is symmetric. By rotating the switches and moving the pressure point to a different corner, Cherry can avoid overlapping of the contact points on their sheet. So Cherry managed to make ...

Ah right, so because the leaf spring in the switch is long and flat, it will press on the membrane along more than a single point (since the contact pads are not under the centre of the switches). No, it just presses a single point. But that point is in the top right corner(in normal orientation). ...

I found one, thank you for that. It came in handy for connecting it to my PS2 -> USB convertersnoopy wrote:btw, there is a free din->ps2 adapter (got them for free from the seller) in every package. So have a look for it, could be hidden somewhere between paper. (If there's none, sorry forgot to add it)

Just for checking if one could turn a "modern" G81 into a winkeyless G81 without modifying the board. It works. I think that's the reason why cherry introduced those off center stem keys. (More)cookie wrote:Thanks for the guide but what is the point of removing MY switches?

How to remove Cherry MY switches
I wanted to remove some Cherry MY Switches from a Peacock G81 plate. Each switch has two feet each with a pin inside of it. So to remove the switch you first have to remove the pin. It can easily be done with 3 needles. I took some pictures for the chance that anybody ever would like to remove a che...

[...] However, if you look at RalF's pictures, you'll notice additional mounting holes in the metal back plate. It seems that these are just in the right place for boards with 1.5u mods. [...] Now I'm wondering why an universal backplate was worth the effort of creating separate molds for 1.25u bot...

Cherry G81 off center Keys (from Peacock G81-3004LANCH)
Here are some pictures of my Peacock G81-3004 LANCH. As most (all?) Keyboards with Cherry MY Switches the bottom row has off center stems. Because some people requested some pictures of them, here they are! I hope they will increase your knowledge ;-) That's the Keyboard: http://abload.de/img/img_97...
