The actuation force from m to f while not very much lower makes a huge difference.(atleast going from bolt modded m to 4704 board) What year is your model m? Early model m's feel pretty good, they kinda feel worse after 1987. And unicomp boards do indeed have a slightly softer feel to them with a ve...

Pcb mounted mx black keyboard.
Ive got a friend looking for a somewhat custom keyboard. Essentially he thinks mx blacks are great but abit light. So, the absolute cheapest/ easiest option here for him seems to be that I need to find an mx black board that's pcb mounted, and a bunch of 100g springs. Any suggestions as to some keyb...

Honsetly from all the model m's and f's Ive tried I believe that the scratchiness truly lies in how heavily used it is. I have an m5-2 thats almost new and feels super scratchy. However many of my other model m's which have seen more use seem smoother. I would like to think its from the plastic key ...

Time to post my screw & bolt modded SSK here! Using this keyboard now for about one and a half month, and every other keyboard related project is postponed for a while. I definitely have to post some pictures of the screw & bolt mod, since i learned a lot and even if there are zillions of guides ou...

For the plastic try loctite repair extreme all temperature. It works complete wonders on model m barrels and cracked laptops. Its says all temp but works best at 70 degrees f or above it also takes 24 hours to set and doesn't stick to electrical tape. Honestly its one of my favorite adhesives becaus...

This was a weird beam spring that was totally broken. The bottom right keys were arrow keys, very dark, above that was numbers. The housing was cracked in 2, most of the keys were gone. I have no idea how you would break the housing on these heavy old things. I should have scrounged the caps! Any o...

If you want a classic mechanical keyboard just get a classic mechanical keyboard! go with an ibm model m for $50 Browns do not feel at all like older tactile mechanical keyboards. Mostly linear with a little scratch that is barely noticeable. Mx greens would be the most like the classic tactile alps...

Ive got a 95 terminal board that has all rivets intact and I will say It does feel different from other model years but it is one of my only model m's with all rivets intact. I found a 1393464 in the wild!
According to the wiki this keyboard was made for airline use. Its purple font keycaps are awesome, and though its slightly damaged i love the 10ft remote desktop cable. Definitely worth the $30! This is also the 2nd model m to appear on my local craigslist in about 3 years. The seller of this keyboa...
