Is there a rough estimate what the final price will be (raw keycaps price + XX) ?
Like handling and (in my case) shipping to Germany.
Oh and from where will they be shipped? Directly from the US to everyone? And what about import taxes as there probably won't be a real invoice?
First group buy for me

Order placed !
This may go on a HyperMini-C600 when it is done, and I am wondering what would be the "return" and "backspace" sizes : return 1.25 and backspace 1.5 ? (it seems so on http://deskthority.net/marketplace-f11/ ... t4185.html)

Next Tuesday we will know the final price and you'll have the chance to pay or cancel your order. An ALPHA+TKL+Spacebar should be around $90 including shipping to Europe. But it's a very rough estimate.ne0phyte wrote: Is there a rough estimate what the final price will be (raw keycaps price + XX) ?

tracked shipping from USA.ne0phyte wrote:Oh and from where will they be shipped?
we sold only 31 ISO kits, it means that we would hardly reach the 50 tier of an EU kit.Gilgam wrote:Will there be an EURO set finally ?

How does that work? Imagine 10% cancel their orders, wouldn't that raise the price for everyone again?matt3o wrote:Next Tuesday we will know the final price and you'll have the chance to pay or cancel your order. What price will you show people to decide whether they pay or cancel?

the final price includes a small cancel ratio.
The orders will be on hold for 2 days, in this grace period you can review your order with the final pricing and cancel it if you want (but no new orders are accepted). After 2 days the orders are frozen and you cannot cancel them. At that point the price is final and you can only pay But there will be someone that won't pay anyway of course...

Thanks for your answers.
And the last question? Is there an invoice per order? Asking because I want to calculate what the import taxes for the actual price would be. I would rather reduce my order a bit now than cancel it completely because the total price is getting too high.
Maybe someone from Germany/Europe can answer this:
What about import taxes? Do the guys at the customs know what keycaps are worth? Did you have to pay for stuff like that in the past?

Usually in GBs they lower the declared value in order to avoid VAT and I didn't have to pay for that.ne0phyte wrote:Maybe someone from Germany/Europe can answer this:

Depends where you live. In a big city like mine (Berlin) almost all my packages form outer EU got stuck in customs (Zoll).
Apart from the horrid waiting times (3h min. for me) you have to pay only the additional 19% VAT (Einführungsumsatzsteuer).
Helpful link: http://www.zoll.de/DE/Fachthemen/Zoelle ... _node.html
I personally do always calculate an additional 19% on my totals.
Keycaps usually get through, except the sender is a jerk/company and values the keycaps over those 22€. I had to pay the 19% for a WASD set to the post man.

Yeah, I forgot, sent goods are keycaps, not keyboardspasph wrote:Usually in GBs they lower the declared value in order to avoid VAT and I didn't have to pay for that.

Thanks. I know our customs regulations but the question was more how keycaps und things like that are valued. I'm pretty sure having no invoice would be better (and having one with a lower value the best).Acanthophis wrote:Depends where you live. EDIT: I see. So @matt3o will the keycaps be declared with a lower value?

Does that mean that you can only validate your order as a whole or cancel it totally ? No possibility to change quantities ?matt3o wrote: [...]

I'm very much up for ordering, but I've been on the fence waiting to see how it worked out with the ISO language pack. Are you saying that it won't happen Matt3o? I'm guessing there are more like me who have been waiting, so perhaps we should just go ahead and order, and perhaps we will make it to 50 - and if not, we have the option to cancel, right?

you can change it as well.zulios wrote: Does that mean that you can only validate your order as a whole or cancel it totally ? No possibility to change quantities ?
The European Kit is coming right after, but it depends how many EU orders we get, I don't have stats yet. Potentially we have 50 EU orders (coming from DT) but only 33 ISO kits sold.kvad wrote:Are you saying that it won't happen Matt3o?
If you want the EU kit to happen we need to rise those numbers.

I'll make a group buy for the EU kit, if we reach the critical mass that's great. Anyway the Retro set must sell very well in Europe.

You could always ask the people interested if they're willing to double their orders, if interest isn't high enough without it.

the problem is that we have to make molds for almost all keys. The EU kit would be pretty expensive.
The good news is that if we are going to do it, we will have the tooling for EU languages and the next time it will be way cheaper.

Thanks. That would be really good to know 'cause my curent order will probably be above 150 Euro with shipping so I'd have to pay 19% import taxes + customs duty (whatever that is for keycaps).matt3o wrote:I'll talk with samwisekoi about this.ne0phyte wrote:EDIT: I see. So @matt3o will the keycaps be declared with a lower value?
Even a lower value (like 30,- or so) would be okay if making it low enough to avoid import tax would be too suspicious.
EDIT: Only 4 more TKL sets for the next tier at 99!

Let's say we hit the 50 tier (hard but let's assume it). that would be $70.42 + all the expenses + shipping. One set all included might cost more than $100. If we are all okay with that, I can start the EU kit GB right away.Gilgam wrote:I won't buy so many retro sets if i'm not sure getting EU set.

In several different group buys, key caps had been sold for $25 per package. Please don't send as gift!

Any update on the possibility of the DSA left stemmed mold?
The question is how much that number is influenced by the current lack of a language pack and by the uncertainty that it might come.matt3o wrote:we sold only 31 ISO kits, it means that we would hardly reach the 50 tier of an EU kit.Gilgam wrote:Will there be an EURO set finally ?

technically speaking you should declare the invoiced value, not the materials cost. anyway I'm waiting samwisekoi to wakeup to talk about that.7bit wrote:In several different group buys, key caps had been sold for $25 per package. Please don't send as gift!

Original point remains. Are we ready to hand $100 for 10/20 keys?Bullveyr wrote:The question is how much that number is influenced by the current lack of a language pack and by the uncertainty that it might come.

We're going ahead and socialising the $3500 tooling cost for a new spacebar that not everyone wants or needs, the overall cost soaked up by everyone was around $0.6 yes? Why are we using the same power of volume for the language kits?
I'm sure most people would be willing to help out the minority.

the EU kit will be a different GB, it has nothing to share with the original one. samwisekoi doesn't want to add new kits to the original GB (and I can't blame him).dirge wrote:We're going ahead and socialising the $3500 tooling cost for a new spacebar that not everyone wants or needs, the overall cost soaked up by everyone was around $0.6 yes? Jep, although I have no need for ISO (European but ANSI user at home) I'm pro subsidizing it.
Unfortunately that's not that simple in this case because we won't be able to fit them into the current GB.

it's my fault, I should have done better with the kits in the first place. I'm sorry about that. With samwisekoi we initially agreed that we would have added more keys if the GB were successful. The "problem" is that it skyrocketed and samwisekoi understandably panicked and froze new kits.
Consider that samwisekoi wanted a blue kit and we waived that out for the same reason. He actually doesn't like the brown one that much.
Next time I'll do better, promise.
PS: next time will be cherry spherical GMK
