Where did you get those? Did you try if the keys feel more wobbly? Is it actually the shape of the connector? :)

Back row, second from right is M9 — similar internals to M8 (the first four, before the MY), but taller, and with "shortbread fork marks" in the upper shell (just looks a bit like that to me ;-) Top-right is either "M6" (M6x switches from the 70s) or M7 — the difference remains unknown, as the catalogues show them outwardly identical before the M7 design changed in later years.

The two front rows are all clones (they don't have "Cherry" written on them). The first two yellow ones (paler shade) are probably [wiki]Kaihua PG1511 series[/wiki] (branded "Kailh" or "PG1511"), but it's hard to be sure. The front-right two white clones appear to be [wiki]Aristotle Cherry MX clone[/wiki] switches (used by Chicony, who refer to Aristotle as "Yali"), which are discontinued; Aristotle had no information available when I enquired, but from what I understand, you can swap parts between MX and Aristotle.

I added at least most of ysb8433408's extra variants to the wiki a while back, but what we need is for a Chinese speaker to try to find out as much as he or she can from ysb8433408, as most variants are unknown, and ZF apparently retain no record that any of them ever existed. The orange one with a custom cross is covered by MouseFan here: http://www7.ocn.ne.jp/~hisao/image/ncrf020.htm

I covered previously the conditions for re-posting MouseFan's images to the wiki; it would be nice to have ysb8433408's too, as he has some ultra-rare switches.

Just what we need for a responsive css header design.

(let google translate munch on that)

The Cherry Alps is blasphemy. :evilgeek: I feel cracks in the fabrics of space and time. Or was it just the crack coming from inside Daniel's skull?

The Cherry Alps are really the wrong way round. Cherry should have cloned the inside and put a +-stem on top so they can be used with their key caps.

Do you think you can order those alps switches if you get the model number 7bit?

They are surely out of production.

I asked for all thinkable MX model numbers and the result was that there are onbly the 10 types available you can biy in the CherryMX group buy.

Would be really interesting which model numbers they are.

Perhaps you should ask them for all their switches, not just the MX, might be another name :D

Perhaps the stem was done by a 3rd party?

The product family (M7, MX etc) seems to cover all possible variations, including stem angle and mount, number of poles, latching vs momentary. It's unlikely that Cherry would use a different code for Alps variations. (There are some weird variants of M6 and M7.)

I have asked ZF about these Alps mount switches before, and the guy who responded doesn't even recognise them. Bear in mind that in the photos above there's a wide variety of Cherry MX mount Cherry MX switch (!!!!!!!!!!!!!) variants not sold today, let alone the non-Cherry MX mount Cherry MX switches.

Where can I find some close pictures of these M8 switches? Here's the ones I have in my possession now:
