I've yet to test this, but assuming it works, how much would it go for?

Hi! I want to unload a Filco Zero XM (FKBN87Z/EB-Y). I bought it on eBay in 2011. Didn't get used much.
Now here's the thing: The case and some of the keys are scratched/nicked.
Pictures are here: http://fireglow.de/755/index.php?path=filcozero/
I'd much rather trade this for a tenkeyless with Cherry MX blues, browns or reds (not black) than sell it.
What do you think my chances are?

I found several of these at my local thrift shop and i picked them all up, i was unsure whether or not there worth anything, they have white alp switches?
Markings on the back say Clevo CO. FCC ID FMA44H, it looks similar to the Chicony KB-7000 and Reveal KB-7061
It uses a 5 pin DIN Connector
Heres pictures of the keyboard

I pulled a cap off and this is what the switch looks like
http://imgur.com/zoulPVm
it says 2a54 on the black portion underneath.

It's listed for $95 here http://cfusion.com/cgi-bin/getPart_1.cg ... ent=fma44h
and for £159.60 here http://www.microbite.co.uk/FMA44H.htm
But I don't know what it is worth (i.e. what you can get for it).

It seems they are available at Amazon.co.uk with Super Saver Delivery, so you could take the price of the brand new ones as reference and apply some disccount to make it attractive. I guess the most convenient for you is finding some buyer from UK, because shipping overseas may be a deal breaker.Ominorvas wrote:How much would a CM storm QFR w/ Browns be worth?

They're not Alps switches, they're clones — probably bog standard Hua-Jie clones (though grey sliders are very rare, and the significance is not known). There's a good chance that the switches will be very stiff — beyond that, it's a combination of personal preference and lack of consistent feel between clone types. These types of clone switches seem to be robust, but they have a terrible reputation for stiffness.Repress wrote:I found several of these at my local thrift shop and i picked them all up, i was unsure whether or not there worth anything, they have white alp switches?
Interestingly, the FCC grantee code of "FMA" confirms the rumour here: Nan Tan Computer (NTC) were bought out by Clevo (or became Clevo), as that's Nan Tan's old FCC grantee code. Now that you have proof that Clevo badged keyboards with these switches, it's worth my while to contact Clevo and see if they're willing to cite the switch manufacturer. (I want to find out whether the #A## numbering scheme is unique to Hua-Jie; it's clear that the metal internals are not.)

I think that's just contrast/white balance that's fucked up. This is an OEM ergonomic keyboard which was sold under different brands. White Alps clones, not grey:
It's unspectacular, a cheap version of the Omnigate with superior switches and construction.

If they really are white, your camera is pretty messed up :) Grey Hua-Jie-style switches do exist. Not that the colour is likely to be in any way significant: it's whether you feel like you need jackhammers for fingers to type on the board, which is the real issue with the clones (that and a lack of brand and product accountability, meaning that you can't ever guarantee feel, unlike with genuine Alps where, wear and tear notwithstanding, you can get a good idea about feel from the photo based on known switch characteristics).Repress wrote:Thanks for the info, i can pop off a few more caps and snap a few more photos so you guys can see im heading out atm, but ill post later with the pictures.webwit wrote:I think that's just contrast/white balance that's fucked up. Ah you're right, I was confusing it with another similar board. In that case, these boards come in different flavours. Typical Alps.

I figured a video would do a better job i uploaded a video of the switches
http://youtu.be/S0qxh2nB7lU
There not the white alps like in the chicony 7001 which someone mentioned earlier was listed for 95$, but would 50$ on ebay seem unreasonable? or if they are indeed clones are they worthless?

The problem with clones is that they're "mystery meat" switches. Most are of an unknown brand and unknown specification, although my suspicion is that most of them (especially those numbered like yours) are from Himake, now part of Hua-Jie. There's a tendency for clones to be very stiff, but there's no way to know what you'll be getting: switches with the same numbering can have completely different internals. This page might help you: most of the switches from T1 on down are unidentified, and many cannot be differentiated from others: http://kbtalking.cool3c.com/article/8366
You could describe the switches, but that's very difficult to do objectively: you'd need to compare them accurately with a well-known switch.
(You can open the switches to check the insides, but they're a complete nightmare to reassemble, though not as bad as SMK: second gen SMK switches are insanely awful, although they feel great.)
Clone keyboards aren't considered particularly valuable, and they're not that rare. I personally don't have an issue with the build quality, just the terrible stiffness, which is the primary complaint.

I have a rubberdome keyboard laying around, it's a Cherry G83-3000SAD with Dyesub keycaps in the standard Cherry 3000 case (not the new round one). Manufactured in 1993 I believe. In any way worth more than 5 dollars?
