There's always lots of reasons for that. You're already there. Your friends are already there. The sales thread moderation rules don't affect you because you're well aware of the true going rate for everything. Etc. etc.
It feels a big ask to start over from scratch somewhere else, no doubt. I'm quite new to this scene, however, and got to choose between GH and DT without any previous baggage. Very easy decision!
Besides that, there's one more thing GH has that we don't: being able to assume that you're addressing a mostly American audience. You can often see that assumption worn thin when people show up here and cross post the same offers they've made on GH. Price in dollars without saying anything but the number, shipping restricted to CONUS or not even stated until someone asks. Same for all the details. ISO?
The US is a big country. Sometimes it's hard to see out of it. I gather China feels the same sometimes. We're used to crossing borders all the time, over here. And that's me showing a similar assumption: that I'm talking to a European audience. In truth, the web is worldwide.

As said before, forbidding hints about e.g. better prices in a sales thread means denying the users access to useful information.
I wonder how a place which does this can call itself a "forum".

Canada is an even bigger country (land area, not population of course), but Canadians never automatically assume they're talking to other Canadians on the internet. I'm annoyed when I see postings showing the price of something "shipped" - as if that's the price including worldwide shipping (internet is worldwide), but it really means including US shipping. If I see something like "AT Model F $75 shipped!!!1", I think, "wow, awesome deal" - only to find out that means $140 shipped to Canada.Muirium wrote:Besides that, there's one more thing GH has that we don't: being able to assume that you're addressing a mostly American audience. Most Americans really are myopic and know nothing about the world outside the US. We used to have a comedy TV show in Canada, where the host would interview Americans and ask them basic questions about Canada. It's pathetic that many Americans don't even know where Canada is on a map. (hint: we're the big fucking landmass just above you, dumb-ass)
(..not saying all Americans are dumb, of course. There are plenty of moronic Canadians - but they all know where the US is.)

Does someone have numbers about registrated users on both forums GH and DT?
I think thats a good indicator to see how big the Communities are, but I think most of the users have accounts on both forums, what makes the Information useless tbh :/

Damn! I was about to suggest that we rally together to invade phetto and explore localhost. I heard something about seal skins and spices.
The best measures of the community would be active accounts and active posters. Every forum anywhere has a good number of long abandoned accounts. The feel of a place comes from who shows up, who writes, and who responds.
Although those order totals are quite something, too. Korea's really punching above its weight.

I think ISO dyesubs are more frequent than ANSI dyesubs and same time you have more potential interest for the ANSI keys than for the ISO keys. So different price tags are little bit reasonable to me.
You are threadcrapping!
You must not tell details which spoil guilleguillaume's argumentation!
The sets being sold for 210USD are ISO DE Dye Sub which appear nearly every month in Ebay.de for the prices I said.

Nice. Taken as a ratio of the number of registered members, that is pretty good.
If we make assumptions about matching user ID's between the two sites, we could probably get a rough idea of the size of the "active" community.

I need to print custom's stickers so I needed to find out from which country people are. However, it says nothing much about the active userbase of DT.

That is not an honest summary of what I ACTUALLY wrote and, frankly, 7bit :7bit wrote:The switches are from the same factory. I assume that robots do the main work and some few workes pack the orders into boxes and ship them ...
The Matias Alps switches are indeed made by Chinese slaves and because they are not make switches in Spain,
50% are unemployed.
You know it isn't what I meant ..
But just in case : No, Spain doesn't have 50% youth-unemployment because Cherry-switches aren't produced there .
They have it because virtually NOTHING is produced there (or in the rest of Europe for that matter) anymore,
other than the food and wine necessary to prevent the next European 1789 .
The Chinese 'communist'-slaves will do it all, for 2-400USD per month .
You can't even live a WEEK in a Euro-country for that slave-wage !
7bit : You are German..
Those unemployment-rates should be sending cold shivers down your spine !
I am not German -
I'm just an old fart who remembers when there where still 2 ' Germany's ' and we all 'lived' under the 'terror-balance',
AKA 'The MAD-doctrine'.
And NEVER before in my life have I been as concerned about 'humanities' future as I am now ..
How long do you think it takes before some populist comes up with 'a final solution' to Southern Europe's
'Lost Generations' ??
( But what do I care ?
I'm from Denmark and the more crap The World buys from China ..
The more money Maersk makes on shipping it ..
And ONE thing we DO know how to do in Denmark is : TAXATION ! )

No worries, Peter. Once China has every single last drop of our money (all of which was stolen from imperial conquests or borrowed from America, right?) their standard of living will be so much higher than ours than we will outcompete them at last! Heavy industry will flourish once more in Europe. The rivers will run black. The thankful proletariat will celebrate in triumph, dancing with whatever limbs they still have. And history's circle will have turned once again.
Or possibly not.

The Marshall Plan! My favourite example of American foreign policy done (almost) perfectly. As opposed to the more usual missteps like Vietnam and Iraq. They, or rather their leaders, chose to give us a huge step up out of the pit of despair we'd made ourselves in WWII. A slightly different kind of contribution than the Incas and Aztecs made to European wealth, I like to think.
I'm looking forward to when India and Africa can compete with Chinese industry and win. That should be another chapter. Expect to see much scheming and a more southerly trend in our viciously hypocritical wars.

Oddly enough, what seemed to actually put an end to the British Empire was basic unprofitability. Those occupying forces don't just pay for themselves. Well, until they start building Canada, Australia, etc. Slippery buggers.
