Many thanks! Also should I add my address to this message? And should I select MxRed-nw as MXREDP/NW instead of MXRED/NW? And could you send me available switches right after pay, just pre-ordered later? And have you currently switches with diodes? Sorry for the stupid questions: just want to make all things right.7bit wrote:Please send this to CherryMX (as a personal message):Netsu wrote:I need following items:with delivery it to Ukraine. They are here, but I don't have time to pack any switch orders.
Currently, 3 Round4 boxed are on top of the MXCLEAR/NW-box which I must ship tomorrow.

Another genius has opened a Paypal dispute against me.
Again, I'm just the money guy. If you have problems whatsoever, 7bit is your guy.
Opening a Paypal dispute, without ever contacting 7bit nor me, not only makes you a douche, it also angers me. That's my personal Paypal you're messing with. I do have your addresses, I can prank call pizzas and whatever stuff to your place.
Don't be an asshole to me, then I won't be one towards you. Simple, isn't it?
In this particular case, I don't even think Kayliss ever read this thread. Shame on you, Kayliss, shame on you...

Payment/"shipping" update
Payments from Jokrik, T0ken, badcop, nebo, tlt, nickwalt, PepperPanda, and F u r u y á have been received and marked as shipped for Paypal purposes (to keep them from locking up the PP account). Invoices may or may not reflect the payments yet. Keep checking this thread for the actual ship date(s), or spam this thread/7bit via PM the message "WHERE ARE MY SWITCHES, DID YOU SEND THEM YET." This only includes payments to me via Paypal. Note that the address on your Paypal notifications/notes are not necessarily the addresses 7bit will ship your switches to, he ships to the address on your invoice.

Thanks for the update!
Please don't open PayPal disputes, but just contact me!
In case someone wants his money back for some preorders: Switches are ordered and I don't have your money anymore. Cherry has it and is making switches out of it.
They make the plastic out of the money paper and the metal part out of coins, so all you can have back is the complete switch.
Thanks for listening.

Hey!
I have pre-ordered some switches, but finally I want them pcb-mounted, is it still possible to send a switches change message without being charged more?
I'm asking this because pre-order special price stopped today from what I can read on the subject of the thread and it seems you have already ordered them by cherry.

I think people who join community groupbuys, and then cancel while it is on its way, are total assholes. This is not a commercial shop, you cancel, you hurt the groupbuy. Can't pay? Are not sure? Do-not-fucking-enter-the-groupbuy. This total asshole managed to up that one by filing a dispute, like we're a bad shop or something. What a piece of work. Then he also likes to bad mouth DT, and lies. That makes him a giant piece of crap. What a giant turd. I can't understand the gh idiots who feel this is a private dispute. It is not. It is a direct attack on a community groupbuy, and everybody participating in that groupbuy. It endangers the groupbuy and future groupbuys. I wonder how those gh idiots would feel if we ban them from future groupbuys because they are a liability and a danger to the successful completion. I wonder if they feel it is still a private issue then.

Especially because he refused to tell me what he really wanted, I felt the need to warn the others by posting about it. I can live without money coming in from PayPal, though selling an MOQ of 4000 switches would be a bit more difficult.
I seriously consider to run the Hyper group buy without PayPal. There will be fewer orders, but we have seen that PCB and plate prices are not much lower when there are many orders.
Also, decent people should always find someone to proxy their money over to me.
ps: Because that guy came from Australia:
One day he will wake a sleeping crocodile, just because he feels a lack of communication ...

You should look into Bitcoin. The price has been pretty stable lately and you have 0 fees and there is technically no way to get sent money back.
Or like 7bit said: only offer wire transfer and people would have to find proxies here. That means that random GH users won't be able to order stuff tho'.

The lowest of the lowest. Join a community to join a groupbuy, don't post, use the group buy organizer's time, and then think you can cancel while the order is away, and if you cannot, open a dispute, lie like a psychopath, and bad mouth the community. So what kind of action is that, if you go to paypal's site and open a dispute to get money, like we're a big shop instead of a bunch of guys of which one does the ordering for the group? You know the money is away, and still you try to get it from the guy who collected it. It is a conscious and planned action to rip off the group buy organizer. Yes, the guy who puts in the effort. He has to pay from his own pocket, and figure it out. He ripped off 7bit. 7bit, who was working for his order. Kayliss - a total and complete asshole.
You think I'm overreacting? I think it's not funny at all. I think one of the reasons we lost sixty is groupbuy related paypal stress. I think it's a danger to open group buys in the future. I can understand if people will have to put in requirements, such as a minimum of 25 posts, but I wouldn't like it as something gets lost. For example, if I start an interest in something else, another hobby, and enthusiastically join a forum, and order parts from a groupbuy, I'd be less enthusiastic if I'm not allowed. In fact, I think we have various active members who started out by joining a groupbuy.
It would be a real shame if lowly turds like Kayliss would destroy that.

I'm really upset with how the situation was dealt in that thread in Geekhack. Kayliss didn't answer anything and didn't tell his part of the story which leads everyone to trust 7Bit's words because he is an old time member and already have a good reputation.
A lot of people would be putting him in their Black Lists because of that, no one would like to deal with a person like that.
I don't like Paypal either but sometimes I have no other choice but to use it. I prefer to use IBAN transfer inside EU.

why is there a horde of GH posters who play devils advocate for everything, questioning why 7bit publicly posted when it was established this Kayliss person was not responding to him through private channels?
The thread would read very differently if ClackFactory was the OP with the same grievance.

Might be interesting to talk about, but I would pick another topic, because the main issue here isn't gh's fault, but the action of an individual.

I guess a real problem with the commercialization of group buys is that some people don't understand what a groupbuy is and how it works any more. With 7bit's group buy, I have problems understanding them myself.
You can see that from some reactions to 7bit's thread over there, saying this is private between 7bit and Kayliss and whatnot. You can also see it from some of the reactions in lysols GMK groupbuy thread on GH. And you can see it from the thread about the clear MX switches "GB" by pexon.
Some people seem to think that with groupbuy organizers making a profit, they can/should be treated like professional sellers.
On the other hand -- if you look at how some of today's group buys work, and 7bit's switch GBs (not round 4!) are a good example: from a normal member's viewpoint they are really hard to discern from a professional shop. There seems to be a stock of readily available switches, there's a professional ordering system, there's no transparency at all about the dealing of 7bit with his suppliers -- hell you don't even know who the suppliers are. You basically are told you enter a group buy without knowing where the organizer buys the merchandise, what prices he gets at what number of orders, at what point in time he has to pay for it, etc.. Only thing you get to know are preorder prices that the GB organizer seems to be able to prolong or deny more or less at will. This does look like a shop, not like gb any more to newer people. IMO there's a lack of transparency that can lead to the notion that these are professional undertakings.
With round 4 it was different in that there was a clear goal and a clear order to SP at some point in time, and people more or less knew what was going on. It was like you'd expect a group buy to be.
But even there, I for one never understood some aspects. in this case especially the whole handling of leftovers. I came to deskthority when the ordering phase of round 4 was already over, and there was a huge list of so-called leftovers in 7bit's system at that time. Where did the "stock" numbers come from, how were they even determined? Next, that "leftover" list diminished over time to almost nothing. Yet after the sorting phase, there suddenly were these 10.000 random keycaps that went into dummy sets. I mean, that's 1/4 of the volume of the whole GB! Why were these even made, and why weren't they in the leftover lists? And even after the dummy kits, 7bit seems to have enough leftover stuff to handle sorting errors and the like.
This is just an example, I'm sure 7bit has put a lot of thought into group buys and how to handle them that I just don't understand, and it might have been explained at some time in the 4000-posts thread of that GB during the last 2 years, but still -- to me these group buys need more transparency.
I don't want to excuse Kayliss's action, but I'm almost sure he didn't know what he was doing at all (and did't think a lot or ask a lot either of course). From the perspective of someone new to this, it's kind of hard to understand how this works and how a Paypal dispute can delay a whole GB.
All I want to say: there needs to be more explaining going on in the GBs, so people can build trust and discern them from all the commecial stuff that's going on GH. I mean look at pexon ... he clearly isn't interested in switches himself at all, he's a pro and he does this for profit, not even minding another GB on MX clears already going on. And from his reaction I'd even say he sees 7bit as just some other pro who competes against him.

That's a damn good description of the newcomer's perspective, Halvar. I showed up later than you did and my impression of the big group buys like this one was quite similar. You have to be naturally curious to delve into the history of these things and find out how different from each other they can be. Especially all that dummy kit stuff which I too cannot fathom!
Can't say I've a good suggestion how to stop this particular crisis happening again. The kind of buyer most likely to kick up such a mess is the least likely to read a damn thing before entering.

I've communicated with Kayliss, and he is not an innocent person who didn't know what he was doing. Actually, he finds it "hilarious". No need to be kind to him. He just gave the finger to the group buy organizer and everybody participating. He needed the money back from a running order, and choose to endager the groupbuy with his asshole action, and turn his problem into the problem of others. Instead of what is normal in this situation, you find a replacement buyer.

Indeed. He's clearly just malignant and would behave that way in any circumstance. If PayPal worked the way I wanted, he'd be due a few broken fingers.webwit wrote:Actually, he finds it "hilarious". Halvar's point struck home with me as a comparative newb. These things actually are quite complex to find out about, for the honest folk among us.
