Chinese, and Japanese and many East Asian languages, have a different dividing line between green and blue than we do. Beware!Cherry MX Black
Cherry MX Brown
Cherry MX Green
Cherry MX Red
Interestingly, that site says Brown instead of "Tea Axis". That's usually a giveaway that you're not reading English.

No, it's not crappy at all! It has very nice Cherry doubleshots, and these are quite rare in German layout. I think the seller could have gotten way more for it if she hadn't hidden it in the formula 1 memorabilia category and if she had used the word "Cherry"... But how could she have known ...
Congrats, Daniel!

Sorry I have been tardy in posting an update on the hall effect switches, I received them and they are the same as what is pictured on the website. I will post some pictures when I get home (I am at work now). They text on them says "Micro" and "USA". I got 250 of them. They are linear, with no click or tactile bump, and the motion is perfectly smooth. I may attempt to disassemble one of them, but I haven't taken the time to figure that out yet. Not much free time with a 9 month old daughter!
EDIT: Here are the pictures:
I couldn't get a good picture with my iPhone of the model number (1B3S) which is embossed on the edge opposite "Micro USA". I could probably get a better picture of it but that would involve having film developed and then scanning it. I need a better digital camera.

I think I may have murdered this switch, but here one is, disassembled:
It's pretty simple, and I bet it would't be that hard to clone it. I don't think it could be done for under 10 cents per switch, though.

There aren't a lot of vintage models with MX brown ...
Here's a modern one:

But I don't think it will stay cheap.

Oh, I don't mind them being not vintage, actually prefer it.Halvar wrote:There aren't a lot of vintage models with MX brown ...

I'd be perfectly happy with a Cherry or Compaq board, used even, I just want to try out the switch, before I buy a more expensive board with browns.

What I meant to say was: it's hard to find a cheap one because there aren't that many vintage models that had MX Brown, and the newer models are still more expensive, even used. IIRC I paid > 30€ for my used Compaq.
Good luck anyway!

I have to apologize because I have been a little busy lately, my ten month old daughter just started walking!xmagusx wrote:jpatters, have you had a chance to play with those enough to know if they're just switches (ie simple on/off) or if they actually measure how far "pushed down" they are?
Anyway, if they do measure how far they are pushed down, that would open up quite a lot of possibilities, wouldn't it? They would be great for some musical keyboard project, if that is the case. I will have to experiment. Problem is, I don't even know quite where to start with them, I guess I should get a bread board and just start tinkering with them.
