I really do appreciate all the hard work that 7bit has put into this huge buy, but to say I was not dissapointed would be a lie. After a year and many $$$ I am unable to use the caps I bought because you simply cannot read them. They dont look anywhere as dark as your image.
Picture attached with existing Cherry CAPS on the QWERTY to show the difference. In the background you can also see loose caps that look white.
7Bit, what can be done about this?

You wanna know why I didn't order RETRO?
Because I knew this beforehand.
How you ask?
I looked it up in the wiki before ordering. http://deskthority.net/wiki/Doubleshot_ ... rder_guide
The attachment doesn't work anymore, thanks to r00tworm. But the contrast on that pic was very similar.
7bit admitted the colours are a bit off, but even if he would have got them right, the contrast would be still very low (if it would have looked the same as in said pic).
You could have known beforehand what you were getting yourself into.

Aha!
http://deskthority.net/wiki/Round_Four_4_Dummies
This is what I needed to understand this whole thing, all along. (Linked inside of Acanthophis' link. Cheers!) Round 4 was a monster! So cheesed I missed those sphericals. The obvious choice!

OK but, the actual end product does not look like the image
http://deskthority.net/wiki/File:RETRO_STDRGBYSYM.png
I am not sure this is 7bit's fault, I think the colour is even lighter than the sample and the manufacturer is more to blame. The fact remains that the keys are not usable.
Anyone interested in buying my caps?

I honestly think that this could be the case. 7bit the picture is excatly as they are, I am not making this up , the letters on these keys are unreadable.Salisen wrote:Maybe they ran out of BCQ and used something lighter without asking.
I can also confirm that the colour of the blue used on my caps does not match the colour of the blue in the image of the swatches you have provided. It is a lot lighter.
Its a pity because I was so looking forward to them.

Hi 7bit, order #0326 here, my order was one of the first to go out on May 28 but I've yet to receive it. Can you double-check its status? Is there any way to track through the post office? Thanks.

What do you expect 7bit to do? Retro's alphas are fucked up, right. Maybe SP used a tiny bit lighter shade of the ordered color (I wouldn't be sure about that). But even a slightly darker blue would not improve the contrast significantly. Such things can happen when ordering custom color combinations you've never seen in real life before. The mockups suggested a much better contrast but everyone could see the actual color samples and no one raised concerns. We collectively fucked up and learned that mockups are just that. It's not SP's and certainly not 7bit's fault and we can't expect either of them to get us better contrasting replacements for free.hottrout wrote: [...retro style alpha's legends are almost invisible...]

I advise to fix it with a new groupbuy of yellow on whites.

Yeah! Yellow is a highly visible color, much better than blue, so this should work.webwit wrote:I advise to fix it with a new groupbuy of yellow on whites.
I've got some leftovers and will put them on a keyboard and try them myself. I still believe they are contrasty enough.

Apparently, they don't.Muirium wrote:What's all the fuss about, anyway? Your fingers know where the keys are.
