The queen of G80s! Or something like that...
Well... I finally sleeved the cable last night after work and now consider this mod to be done. It is almost over the top kitsch - but still majestic in a way. I love it. Of course no one will ever type on this super limited and heavily modified board, so it stays hidden in the box forever. Almost sad. The Dolch WASD are just for show because they matched the color scheme so nicely.
* Limited Edition 3430HKNDE Case "Aluminium Ripple"
* Double Shot Keycaps
* Double Sholt "Dolch" WASD
* Cherry Metal Logo
* MDPC-X Sleeved cable
* Modified G81 steel plate below the PCB to enlarge weight and stop the board from flexing
* Rubber-foam padding under the PCB to reduce "thock" sounds and avoid short circuits (with the metal plate)
* 45g modded switches
* Blue LEDs
Thanks to everyone who provided parts to this project. Especially to Mr. Interface for the entire PCB.

This is very nice and the Dolch WASD keys are right on the money! How do you like the ghetto reds? I've grown very fond of them during my compact keyboard project.
The lighter spring makes me more sensitive to the actuation point, so a bit surprisingly I don't bottom out on ghetto reds even nearly as often as I do on blacks.

I like them quite a lot. Sometimes they seem too weak though. I think I might change the spacebar.Julle wrote:This is very nice and the Dolch WASD keys are right on the money! How do you like the ghetto reds? I've grown very fond of them during my compact keyboard project.

Yeah, thats the one. Mine is from the ISO model though, which reads G80-1313HFX.daedalus wrote:G80-1813HFU, IIRC.Dolch PAC 64: WASD keycaps
I guess they did not bother to change the PCB sticker on a model where you never see the product number and just kept it as "X". Maybe they even sent them to Dolch without keycaps, and Dolch put them on.

Well, from what I can see, they look like regular Cherry double shots, with a Dolch-specific colour scheme of course.

Yeah, they are made from the Cherry molds, no doubt. What I meant is that Dolch maybe ordered a bunch of boards without caps, and then a bunch of keycaps to make up European models.daedalus wrote:Well, from what I can see, they look like regular Cherry double shots, with a Dolch-specific colour scheme of course.
Going by the rarity of ISO Dolchs, I don't think they sold many. What do you think?

I actually saw a UK-layout Dolch on a documentary about a UK defense contractor, they were using a Dolch to check the electronics of a helicopter.
I think it could actually be the opposite to what you say - they were relatively specialized machines, and it's likely that they are still being used all these years later. Would explain why they often go for so much on eBay.

Maybe.. but then there are dozens of them on eBay every month and barely ever one in Europe. The German one took like almost two years to trigger on my eBay search filterdaedalus wrote:I actually saw a UK-layout Dolch on a documentary about a UK defense contractor, they were using a Dolch to check the electronics of a helicopter.

This is beautiful work sixty! Nicely done
I think instead of putting all your prized boards in boxes, you should put them in glass/acrylic display cases. That way, you can at least SEE your creations.

Only for those Norwegian girls. That reminds me... back then in the mid 90s or something there was this swedish website that had thousands of pics of swedish, finish and norwegian camwhores. Something like "fjortis filler". It was very popular around my school. That was what we kids growing up in the 90s fapped off to, before proper video codecs were invented!Minskleip wrote:Want to learn Norwegian yet?
