Didn't you say in IRC that you had the same issues?

I had a Zalman MC1 and got the modmic as I found the Zalman annoying to use. I've had no problems with my modmic connected to motherboard or soundcard (auzentech meridian II), except that I keep losing the little microphone windshield.

I solved all my issues with a 5$ USB soundcard. It is far better than my Xonar STX and doesn't pic up the electrical noise at all. I also created a small arm which holds a Zamlan MC1 at the end. It clips on to the headphones using one of these with one part attached to the beam and the other to the headphones. They are more commonly used in clothes and textiles. I have a slight phobia putting magnets close to speakers, no matter how tiny or weak they are.

Pros uses external Soundcards since noise interferences are the major problem of PCI devices as ASUS Xonar family. Seems that fans and PSU make this and an ATX chassis may not be a reliable Faraday cage. I never had problems with my old Xonar D1 (maybe because I use branded PSUs) but it seemed to be the usual complain.
