@7bit About your mail problems...
While setting up the new dt server, google started rejecting mail from my test domain as spam almost right away, because I had no reverse dns for the sending server domain set in a ptr record. I set it, and after a couple of days gmail received the mails, but flagged them as spam. Other destinations received mail without problem. I needed to set a spf record in the dns to fix gmail's flagging. So google ptr and spf for more info, there are also sites to test your sending domain for any problems. Both are mechanisms to make sure spammers cannot use your domain to sent stuff, and mail servers are getting more strict about this.

The plastic/silver/gold/platinum status only affects the color of your club member's funny hat, which must be mandatory worn.

Instead of a welcoming message I get another request for money.
Thank you very much!

A public list of club members usernames (and number) would really help here. Regularly updated, like the Members page on the forum. Every GB with 7bit's bots seems to turn a little Skynet for whatever reason…

Agreed. I've had like 3 or 4 emails now from the bot (only one today though).Muirium wrote:A public list of members usernames (and number) would really help here.

Well what I meant was that I have paid (I think), but I don't have the block saying that I have paid. If I don't get my funny hat I'm going to throw a huge tantrum.

acfrazier lives in the USD world, so I had to change that.Muirium wrote:Please pay as USD? I've never seen that either. All my communications with the CherryMX bot have been in Euros.
CherryMX is a totally different thing.

About the "NO GIFT!!! NO GIFT!!! NO GIFT!!! NO GIFT!!!".... I'm about to pay with PayPal, but I don't see anything mentioning "gift". I seem to recall there used to be something that said "send as gift", but now there's only "I'm paying for goods or services" or "I'm sending money to family or friends". I was going to use the "sending money to friends" thing, but want to make sure it's... NO GIFT!!! NO GIFT!!! NO GIFT!!! NO GIFT!!!

No, family or friends = gift, surely. Go with goods or services. Works for me. (With the "totally different thing" CherryMX bot anyway.)

OK, "goods or services" it is. I don't want to be accused of sending a gift. I can imagine somebody saying "Bloody hell, mate - you sent it as a gift!! No membership for you!!" If that happened, my rage would explode and I'd turn into a green hulking monster with ripped clothes (but my pants would stay on). Then I'd go on a rampage and not stop until Deskthority is a smouldering ruin... broken switches and keycaps everywhere.Muirium wrote:No, family or friends = gift, surely. Go with goods or services. In the membership list, it looks to me as if those who had paid on a limit for a membership by PayPal but not gifted it still got the higher level of membership even though DT received a lower amount because of PP fees.
Kudos!
... not that level means anything in real life, but anyway.
Edit:
kbdfr: Beware the Streisand Effect ...
BTW, I had intended to pay the exact amount that DT received. Bank transfer.
