Wow everything looks great! The only thing I'd change is to make the PROFILE/ROW a dropdown box instead of a custom entry box. It's difficult to know all the options that the editor is capable of! Excellent work!

yeah it would make more sense if there were three dropdowns:

Profile := { DCS, DSA, SA, Flat … }
Row := { N/A, 1, 2, 3, 4 … }
Special := { None, Space bar, … }

Should this become part of Deskthority, like kblayout.deskthority.net, or do you reckon it's better left entirely independent? I am not sure if it would help to "strengthen the brand" by having such tools (see [wiki]Utilities[/wiki]) "in-house" or not. Just a thought.

I'm certain that is ultimately up to you. I'm involved in Deskthority as well as Reddit, MassDrop, and GeekHack, and I know users from every community would use your utility. Whether you think it should be exclusive depends on your own opinions about keyboard hobbyists, Deskthority, and exclusivity. It's your work, so invest it wherever you please.

The layout editors were made by ne0phyte and ijprest, so I guess it's not really up to Dan :)
Although it would be cool to have them as part of deskthority; likewise it would be nice to have Mrinterface's simulators at 'sims.deskthority.net'. Ultimately it'd be up to the creators though.

Oh man great point. I didn't even realize who I was talking to. Thanks for that, I had a midterm like an hour after I wrote that, so as you can imagine, I was a little distracted.

It's not about exclusivity — it's about putting Deskthority's stamp on it, so that the community as a whole gets credit for it. Anyone wishing to use it has to acknowledge the existence of Deskthority ;-)

It's down to ijprest though.

(The idea has already been raised of allowing community members to pay for Deskthority subdomains — which is a little concerning, because it may actually discourage people from directly associating their work with Deskthority if they can get cheaper or free hosting elsewhere. If anything, it's in Deskthority's favour to do its best to encourage people to want to have their work directly connected to the community. Or so it seems to me, at least.)

re: a DT subdomain... I'd never really thought about it. I'm not opposed to the idea, but there'd be a few technical issues to deal with. I'm open to the conversation.
