A private wiki? What would you put onto it?
(Granted, personally I'd boot all the Round 5 stuff onto another site — to me it's just marketing spam, not knowledgebase material ;-)

True. I'm sure it's in there for 7bit's convenience, but it does seem a little misplaced. The wiki might mention notably large GBs, but the full illustrated kit list is out of character.

I'm fine with the GBs in the forum. (And only mildly irritated by their spilling into the wiki, where they could use a little critical distance.)

Make it more distiguishable on the landing page of the wiki that these are two different parts, and we're done. No use in installing a second wiki for that, is there?

Can group buy listing pages get a different colour scheme? That would be all the obvious differentiation required. Like between editorial and ads in a newspaper.Halvar wrote:Make it more distiguishable on the landing page of the wiki that these are two different parts, and we're done. Wait, I'm talking about the olden times on the Internet. Whoops!

Maybe a different section, like "Group buys".
Wait.

The Round 5 page is much better organised than the Round 4 pages where!Muirium wrote:It's not evil, 7bit. It's just not like the rest of the wiki.
After the group buy, photos can be uploaded matching the unreachable high standards, our great wiki gamekeeper has thought out!

The Round 5 page is stupidly long. Group buys are already very intimidating (not conceptually, but from all the bot interaction and complex banks of codes to send it and frequently very cryptic instructions, in sprawling topics that read like Lewis Carroll) — add to that a virtually bottomless page of images ...
To figure out what options there are, there's sure to be a better way than vomiting images onto a page and hoping that visitors have sufficient short-term memory to remember what was at the top of the page when they're only 15% of the way down ...
My sanity is worth more than the colour of the keys on my keyboard.

Because you did not order anything, there is no need you read the wiki entry.
If everybody would write a wiki entry about his group buy, it would be much easier for future generations to know what great stuff we did!
BTW: One reason there are so many options is because there are different people with different needs. Except for matt3o's DSA group buy, there is/was no other group buy where you have so many choices, except Round 3, Round 4 and Round 5, all run by me.

You seriously want the wiki filled with Round 5 reviews?

I'm actually surprised that Round 5 page even loads in Netscape Navigator ... don't you run out of RAM or something with that many images?

I think the way it is organized right know is good.
There's a separate category for group buys and the group buys are in there.
I also think they should stay in the Wiki including prices for future reference to avoid people getting ripped of.

Well, these are the sorts of pages were we could have some nice photos from the group buys:
[wiki]Signature Plastics DCS family[/wiki]
[wiki]Signature Plastics SA family[/wiki]
[wiki]Signature Plastics DSA family[/wiki]
[wiki]Novelty keycaps[/wiki]
Though the last one is close to being dealt with sufficiently with my own photos.

Ouch. Didn't realise they were as empty. I'll see about a nice set of Round 4 SPH porn for the SA page. Still waiting on my DSAs though.
