I don't have an ErgoDox yet (I'm on the current massdrop GB for it). But I imagine having row 2s for the "upper" thumb keys will make them easier to type? By "upper" I mean not the ones parallel to the vertical thumb keys.
Also 7bit, why does the HONEY/ERGOBASE not have those extra grey and red row 1 keys as in HONEY/ERGO?

Maybe row 3 for the 2 internals, row 2 for the 2 externals ?7bit wrote:
Should I make them row 2?
Also I would make the following suggestion :
- row 2 for the 2 keys on top line of each thumb cluster.
- for spare keys : keep row 1 for the 3 on the left, but maybe row 3 for the 3 on the right.
What do you think ?

The ultimate endorsement!7bit wrote:If it where all row 3, I'd order one for myself.
Ok, if you and jefferai want all row 3... if we could just keep F0 as row 1, I suggest do it! Or am I missing a really good reason for not having F0 match the F number keys?

No idea. Just asking so I can plan buying appropriately. Don't have my ED yet7bit wrote:They are all row 3:

Not sure about comfort but all R3 us fine with me in terms of keycap buying. From the picture I wasn't sure if the bottom R4 row extended to the top thumb row or not, hence my asking.
If you do change it, give a heads-up please!

Hello friends,
I'm new here, but I still wanna catch the train while it is still here
I've got 2 questions. I beg of you to kindly answer them for I'm afraid to make a mistake.
1. I'm planning to buy the Filco Majestouch-2 (exactly like this). Which command should I pm to 7bit to order all black Honeywell keys for this keyboard?
2. How to pay (I'm in Russia)? In advance or later? Is credit card accepted?
Thanks in advance, guys!

First make sure you pm "7bot" not 7bit.solkoseryl wrote: 1. I'm planning to buy the Filco Majestouch-2 (exactly like this). Which command should I pm to 7bit to order all black Honeywell keys for this keyboard?
Second, if you want all black, the alphas will be blank. There is no set of black letters/top row numbers. If you want blank ansi sculptured:
HONEY/TKL/BASE/BLACK
HONEY/VERTBSL150/BLACK
HONEY/SPACE625/BLACK
HONEY/NUMPAD/BLACK
BLANK/R1U100/BLACK 13
BLANK/R2U100/BLACK 12
BLANK/R3U100/BLACK 11
BLANK/R4U100/BLACK 10
Optional: (REMOVE THIS LINE)
BLANK/R3U100C/BLACK 2
BLANK/R3U100D/BLACK 2

If you want captions on your keys, you'll have the choice between white and red letter keys. Look for the "TKL" sets in the wiki. You need one of those plus a numpad kit (e.g. HONEY/NUMPAD/BLACK ) plus a 6,25u space bar.

btw solkoseryl, the optional keys are for row 3, the middle (home) row. To mark F and J, you can have 2 deep dish keys (BLANK/R3U100D/BLACK) or 2 central nub keys (BLANK/R3U100C/BLACK), or just regular keys. Whatever your choice, you'll need 11 keys for row 3
Payment is by Paypal, so if you can use a credit card through Paypal that should be fine. 7bit prefers payment sooner, but they aren't due yet I think.

For me, what I meant was the same as kzhk's but without the vertical thumb keys change (nor the spare keys)

With the 2x3 spare keys you can replace the ERGO DOX keys by grey or red keys or have matching 1.5 units red keys instead of the greys, so they must be row 1.

Thank you very much for the urgent answers!
I've ordered just the STANDARD125 + the spacebar, of course!
farinasa_, thank you for the clue about 7bot, not 7bit!

Anytime. Let me also urge you to add the HONEY/FUNCTION/RED to really give yourself the Honeywell feeling with the red Escape, Backspace, and Return/Transmit. Not to mention the fun ones like "7 bit mode".solkoseryl wrote: farinasa_, thank you for the clue about 7bot, not 7bit!

LOL and the key '7 bit mode' has to be mapped on pm'ing to 7bit?
God, the last time I've typed the spherical keycaps was about 20 years ago. I can't believe it will happen again soon!

So what do you think about the top thumb keys being row 2s instead of row 3s?7bit wrote:With the 2x3 spare keys you can replace the ERGO DOX keys by grey or red keys or have matching 1.5 units red keys instead of the greys, so they must be row 1.

Being very new to the ErgoDox...What's the advantage of this? Just a better curve profile?quaker4lyf wrote:So what do you think about the top thumb keys being row 2s instead of row 3s?7bit wrote:With the 2x3 spare keys you can replace the ERGO DOX keys by grey or red keys or have matching 1.5 units red keys instead of the greys, so they must be row 1.

Since I have a weird layout which fits better with an all row3 set (sad for me that the alpha/red and numeric/red changes), mine is already for collection and pictures as the NOIR/BEPO set actually on transit7bit wrote:Everybody of you should order 2, one for the keyboard and one for the collection!kzhk wrote:I will order a bepoalpha (tonight)... not sure it is going to be enough...
Thank you so much kzhk ! a 4th set should be enough.

That's what I imagine. I've only tried typing on my friend's ErgoDox once, and his top thumb keys were a different row (though it was DCS, not these SA profile). Looking up pics of the Kinesis keyboard they seem to have the same thing (it's not all the same rows)jefferai wrote:Being very new to the ErgoDox...What's the advantage of this? If HONEY/ERGOBASE is gunna have all row 3 thumb keys, then I'll probably order additional 4 row 1, and 4 row 2, blank grey keys, just so I can try it out and swap them out later if I need to.
