It's basically a switch with a clear casing and a lens so an SMD led can shine through it.
Ascaii made a thread about them: http://deskthority.net/news-reviews-f4/ ... t6997.html
Maybe this is a new sub-category, like "with led", "with jumper" a new category "with clear casing" could be added. You would then have your regular stems and springs, just a clear casing.

I was kind of excited about the whole RGB thing as originally I misunderstood it - I thought that somehow there were LEDs in the switches which would possibly mean you could have backlit switches you could still pop the tops off without desoldering them. When I reread the article it's actually just a lens inside the switch to reflect a surface mounted LED on the PCB itself...

I did try hacking the front part out of a switch once to see if it were possible to leave the LED in but just bend it out of the way when popping the top off switches - it did work but looked a complete mess... Needless to say I didn't bother putting that switch on a board!

Actually, don't these switches do what you want? Granted, you need to replace your PCB, but then you can pop off the top at any time because there's no LED in the switch!GeorgeK wrote:I was kind of excited about the whole RGB thing as originally I misunderstood it - I thought that somehow there were LEDs in the switches which would possibly mean you could have backlit switches you could still pop the tops off without desoldering them. So if I order this on friday the 13:th, about when will they ship and about when will I get them? (I live in Sweden)
And how do I pay? Do you send an email to me? Will SEK to EUR work automatically? Which delivery method do you use?
And finally. Any updates on what switches are in store and not?

the initial setting is payment in US$ via Paypal, if you send "PAYEUR" you will pay in € via bank transfer. There is no autoconversion to SEK since it's strictly $ or € : you have to find if your bank conversion rate in € is better than SEK→$ from Paypal. 7bit use standard post delivery, no tracking. It rarely takes more than two weeks to be delivered in Europe.obolla wrote:And how do I pay? Do you send an email to me? Will SEK to EUR work automatically? Which delivery method do you use?

Send your order and at the end of the invoice mail there is an updated listing of all items available.

I've tried twice to order a cherry mx grey, but the bot will not put them in my invoice. I'm pretty sure that the spelling is correct, since I've copied it from the post itself. Could you help me 7bit?

Hey tER299, I was just talking to 7bit about the same thing -- looks like you and I are in for a bit of a wait as the greys are sold out.
7bit wrote:Hi Iacoizumi!Iacoizumi wrote:Alright! Updated the order with the new address. Quick question though, scanning the invoice I got from CherryMX when I first ordered the switches, it doesn't look like it actually processed a charge:
Additionally, it doesn't look like MXGREY/NW (MX1A-D1NW) is actually listed in your bot's inventory.Code: Select all

I'm afraid, these are sold out.
I will do an inventory count this week, to see if there is any reserve. If not you need to wait until I get the next batch.
7bit.
