I seem to recall someone suggesting the Luxor ABC 80 as the basis of round 5's color scheme (okay, it's not exacly honey colored but close enough). Perhaps that idea can be revived when it's time for Round 6.kzhk wrote:A goldish yellow : honey color7bit wrote:The yellow text looks great!
Anybody in for yellow on grey key caps?
Something like that :
Won't be nice for yellow on grey key caps, but honey yellow keycaps with white label would be awsome
Don't do it though, or I will break my wallet !

I realise you guys are probably just kidding.. but I'm curious what happened in round 4. It took a long time, but I thought it was primarily due to the massive number of colourschemes. Was there a lower-price-quote -> more-volume -> even-lower-price-quote thing going on? How much of a percentage drop was each quote, 3% really?7bit wrote:We need more volume, but maybe the price quote is nice, so in the end* every key could be available in each color, at 97% of the current prices.

Round 4 started in 2011 (or was it 2010? ) as an interest check. I started to collect orders with prices calculated with the experience from the previous round. I added some percentage for potentially raised prices. Then came the price shock: My prices where way off with what SP wanted us to charge. I had to cut down the choices etc. In early 2012 I had to give up some of the color-schemes and started to collect money after getting a bit better prices again. We where very careful to not collect to quickly, because of PayPal potentially locking the accounts. It simply took too long, someone who ordered a huge amount jumped off and SP had to raise their prices again, because the plastic prices went up, or so. The whole thing delayed further until December 2012 when we finally where able to pay everything but the sphericals. They started production on the DCS key caps and later I was able to send them the final payment for the sphericals to get the production finished somewhere in March 2013. Production took really long with those many color options.
The lower prcies, more key caps, lower prices thing happened in Round 3 and was great fun! I remember I ordered 30 extra STANDARD kits, which sold out before distribution even started.
Round 5 should be like Round 3, not like the Round 4 madness again!

Ask Signature Plastics. In fact, submit a detailed proposal and analysis, why don't you? They might take a little convincing.

It was not the price drop, I just was sure they will sell and they did. Should have gotten another 30 or maybe 40 kits.

It is because I lowered the prices for TKL and NUMPAD (compare withe thre red or black variants) but did not lower the price of STANDARD125. But hopefully, this will change soon ...

I only see it in Grey, as a part of HONEY/MOD175. Is it available as a standalone? And any chance of LED windows?7bit wrote:Ah, yes, the stepped CAPS LOCK. But it is already available in grey/white, just not in red ...bianco wrote:will the same be available in grey/white and red?
and stepped caps lock?
Still trying to work up the courage to order I think I'll have to sell my DEC VT52 and give up the dream of modding those keys for MX.

In my group buys, this strategy never works out!
edit: Why did you remove the ä-s from your address?
My script learned about special characters (ä) and is now able to transform them into decent LaTeX markup (\"a)!

Damn this hobby! Just months ago I was thinking it was ridiculous to spend the money I did on a Filco keyboard, but I did anyway...no regrets. Then I decided it was definitely ridiculous to spend money on fancy custom keycaps...currently trying to trim down my order from where it currently sits...at $158. Sigh. Anyway, awesome work on the kit designs and setup. Very comprehensive!

In "HONEY/FUNMOD/BLACK" do both the full "CONTROL" and the stepped "CONTROL" have off-center stems?
My set is going on an MX-MINI which has the switch in the off-center position.
Thanks!
